I can see an element of melancholy in this piece, the use of black and white, the emptiness of the landscape, and - like AnnWatson said - it could be a little sinister: a road to nowhere, perhaps the view before a suicide attempt?
but my first impression was just that this is a beautiful image, it is very peaceful and brings me to the wistful beauty of the sea-side
