Description

It's time I actually spent days on something. Probably my most complex piece by far. I never done a battle sequence in my life quite like this. The last time I had done anything remotely close was 3 years ago and and even then it couldn't compete the one you see before you now. Justin White can testify for this since he owns the damn thing! This piece here was more or less inspired by a small HEAVY METAL band known as Saxon! Usually my art is inspired by either the bands I listen to or the art I'm exposed to, but what it boils down to is the music. Go listen to the song Dissident Aggressor by Judas Priest and Judgement Day by Saxon if you want to better visualize what I was seeing here. Anyway, as for the style, I really don't know. At the start I was going for an Frazetta, Alex Raymond or Al Williamson, but then..... I don't know. I guess I just wanted to give it my own unique look. I also forgot to mention that I wanted to go as far away from actually having to imply a sword, armor(if any), or small details such as rocks. I don't know any professional artist currently living that does what I do, so I'm deviating from that.

Another thing I want to throw out there. The reason this ended up taking as long as it did was from not being very decisive. I hesitated too much in the preliminary stage, and I had no vivid picture in my mind to work from. So if you'd like, you can say that I made stuff up as I went along, which I probably ended up doing for most of the detail. Every piece I make has a single subject matter, leaving out a bunch of elements, so I'm trying to disband this cliche I made for myself.
Anyway, what actually ended up being a battle scene, wouldn't have if I hadn't seen Kevin VanHook's post of his work on Ninja Bots?? I think? And that's why there's a shit ton of apemen, werewolves, chubackas, and I don't know! Enjoy this clusterfuck of badassery I guess?
