I imagine this mermaid is from a dystopia where the ocean has become increasingly polluted from human trash and life is dying at an alarming rate. Mermaids will either have to fight each other for resources or travel to the surface and hunt humans for food.Unfortunately such chaos has left her scarred, badly injured, and living in fear of what comes next for her.
