Description
The sky was dark and the moon was high and all good wynglings were supposed to be in bed. Sedge, however, was not a 'good' wyngling. Sedge was doing something she shouldn't have been doing. Which was nothing new. Her antics were usually during the day, but this was one rule she hadn't broken yet, and it bothered her. She hadn't done it yet because it was hard. Getting the stones and hiding them in her bed was hard, and getting outside without being stopped was harder. Still, Sedge wasn't worried about it. She'd figured it out over the past week, and when curfew was called, she was finally ready to start off her plan.
Being good was boring. Being the perfect little wyngling wasn't any fun, and Sedge loved to have fun. This, though, was anarchy for the sake of breaking rules, which was not her usual style. Instead, she was treating it like a puzzle that needed to be solved. The outcome meant very little, and the consequences would just be another puzzle for another time.
It was a quiet night, which made it harder. Amid the snores and rustles of the slumbering wynglings, even Sedge's quiet voice seemed too loud.
"Shhh, don't be loud. I got rocks for ya." Sedge set another small rock on the floor, a goofy grin on her face as she crept back using only her back legs, making sure that the Puckoos went for it before placing the next one down. She had been leading the two puckoos into the nook, with a surprising amount of success. One fell over the other, snagging a rock but taking a long moment to look at Sedge before beginning to clean it, leaving the female to go for the other one.
Past the sleeping wynglings and a mild little runeboo named Bexie who was actually afraid of the little chicken-fish who was hiding on one of the shelves above each wyngling cot she crept, hoping that the puckoo didn't decide to give her away. Sedge didn't really know what she would do if she succeeded in getting them back to her cot, but that was a problem for future Sedge. Just as she was backing onto her bed, Bexie came toddling out of her hiding place with a concerned burble.
"Bex-no Shush" She said, pleading with the boo. Right. That would work. The boo never listened to her. She didn't even know who Bexie belonged to. Nobody really did. She just kinda roamed the nook and picked an 'owner' from the wynglings on a daily basis.
"Curr-rroo?" The boo crept closer, the puckoo seeking out more rocks to polish as Sedge was distracted. She was losing them.
"You're gonna give me away" Sedge released most of the rocks, the Puckoos getting more insistent. Things were getting difficult, and Sedge was getting nervous.
She began looking towards the stairs. Other Wyngs were stirring, aroused by the cooing chirp of the runeboo.
It was time to do something. Sedge dove into her bed, throwing the last stone as she did so, and the Pucks ran for the far wall, essentially chasing Bex in the process. The little boo panicked, and Bexie dove into a bed. Between the three of them, they sure that anyone who wasn't up definitely was now.
Sedge giggled as she cradled her pillow, her ear nubs quivering. Later, there would be punishments, but for now, as a Puckoo jumped onto another Wyngling's head, Sedge didn't really care.
