It's been so long since I've drawn something related to Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, and I've wanted to draw this guy for a long time. This guy's name is Anton. He's the main character of the episode "The Crystal Ball". He has two outfits in the episode - a nightshirt during the nighttime scene and a yellow tunic and white tights during most of the episode. I never cared for his daytime outfit, but I thought he looked awesome in his green nightshirt. Anton's older brothers Georg and Sebastian also wear nightshirts too, except theirs are blue. I thought it was cool to see young characters wearing nightshirts since most of the time you see nightshirts in fiction they're worn by old men. (I actually have a nightshirt myself which I sleep in sometimes, though I haven't worn it in a while.)

The Crystal Ball is notably one of the darkest episodes of GFTC. The English version was apparently only aired once and then never aired again, and I failed to find any English dub online. This is due to a rather disturbing scene which involves a wicked witch biting a captive princess like a vampire and sucking the beauty out of her, which will make the witch look like Anton's late mother, whose body she stole. The episode makes it obvious that this happens every single night. (Apparently, the English version cut out the biting.) This is probably one of the cruelest scenes I've ever seen in a show intended for children (keep in mind that GFTC is anime, and Japan is much more tolerant of violence in kids' shows than America).

This episode is one of two animated adaptations I've seen for The Crystal Ball. One episode of the German cartoon Simsala Grimm featured this episode as well. Their version isn't as dark as the anime one. The protagonist in that one looks slightly older than Anton. (Anton looks like he's only 14 or 15, while the one in the other animated version looks like he's around 19 or 20. Keep in mind that in those days, marrying in your teens was considered normal.)
