I remember the drawings of the alien worlds we saw in the Calvin and Hobbes comics, the sheer size of the alien landscapes when Bill Watterson drew the Space man Spiff parts, among others. This looks like a more serious, realistic version of some of those comics.

"In 1976, Theodore Sturgeon wrote that Lem was the most widely read science-fiction writer in the world". If you want to check him out, write Stanislaw Lem (with l instead of ł in his name).
I've read only Solaris and Eden so far, but I'm planning to read the rest of his books as well, they're amazing.
