Description
So here's the first of the dramatic pieces so stay tuned for the next... whenever that is? lol Currently being a little too bogged down because I work in a hospital so when I'm not dealing with this outrageous virus, then I'm usually crashed out on my couch or watching my kiddo. So that's the main reason I haven't really been uploading. The other was because I've been mad at dA Eclipse and didn't want to deal with it.
tldr; Bash worries about Taryn. Taryn worries about being pregnant. Calus attempts to steal Taryn away, but is stopped by Bash. Bash fights off a stallion chasing a mare and invites her to join his herd.

Sinner
Ever since the night that Calus had taken an unfortunate dip in the lake, and a quiet night was shared between Bash and Taryn, Bash couldn't help but feel overly protective of her. Whenever Calus was around, that need seemed to multiply tenfold. He wasn't quite sure why he was so untrusting of the younger male, since he was barely of age to even think about taking his own stake on a mare. Taryn seemed to be slightly more cautious than she had been recently. Typically she was incredibly sharp tongued and quick to had a go at Calus, but in the past few weeks she'd seemed wary of the colt. Bash wondered if that was where his current distrust of the colt was coming from, he'd have to question her about it later. Hostility in the herd was not going to keep them alive long.
He knew that Taryn needed time to adjust, as she still seemed wary of being in their 'herd', so he would let her come to him if she needed.
---
Taryn stood by tree that had long since lost its leaves. The only protection it offered was by it's large trunk buffering the sharp winds from the North. It had been a few weeks since she'd been traveling with the other two, and she felt great ease at having a protector. Being on her own had been very hard on her and there were times she wasn't sure she'd make it through the night. Sebastian was a blessing in her life and she wasn't too keen on letting it go. The fact that she was with child now, made it all the more real that she had a home... a family again. She didn't even know how to tell him, but knew it had better be soon. She wasn't showing yet, but within a couple weeks it would be noticeable. He was due back any minute, having looked ahead for any signs of trouble.
Moving away from the tree, she raised her head and looked around for the lead stallion; at least that's how she viewed him. Calus seemed too young and hot-headed to truly be seen as a leader in her eyes. She constantly felt an unease when alone with him while Bash scouted ahead for possible dangers. So she was very disheartened to find the young stallion making his way towards her. After his injury, he'd been pretty useless to the herd, as it was hard for him to get around. He still had a faint limp, but nothing that would keep him from keeping up with the herd.
Taryn took a couple steps back as he approached.
"Hello, Calus." She said politely.
"Taryn." He replied. "Bash not back yet?"
Taryn shifted her weight and shook her head.
"Not yet."
She knew he had a reason for coming over, and the look in his eyes did not comfort her. It was a familiar look, one she did not take kindly to. Her black ears flattened against her head as she stomped the ground.
"If you're here looking to make off with me, you'd best turn your little butt around and go find some snow to lay in." She snapped.
"You think you're pretty intimidating. It's good lead mare potential." Calus commented, "But you shouldn't treat a stallion that way. Especially your leader."
Taryn rolled her eyes and snorted.
"You are not the leader of this herd. Bash is." She retorted.
A flash of anger appeared in Calus' eyes as he stepped towards her, his head dipping into a snaking position. He had been in that position for but a moment, when the sound of thundering hooves were heard coming towards them. He was on them within a few seconds, placing himself between Calus and Taryn, his ears back.
"What do you think you're doing?" Bash reprimanded.
Calus flattened his ears as well, eyeing the older stallion up. Taryn watched on nervously, and moved herself out of harms way, in case they started fighting.
Bash stepped towards the colt and snorted aggressively, however his attention was diverted as the sound of another female reached their ears. They all turned their attention across the plains. In the distance they could see a rather large blue roan stallion chasing a half white, half buckskin mare across the grounds. Her fearful voice echoed across the plains and Bash knew he had to help her.
Bash turned his attention back to the colt.
"Stay here, and if you take another step towards her, I will remove you from this herd. Injured or not." Bash threatened, kicking up snow as he darted towards the running pair.
---
Bash pushed his legs hard against the ground, flying after the two. He called out a warning as he approached, hoping that the stallion would turn away from the mare. It worked, as the big roan faltered in his chase, slowing to turn back around to face the threat. The stallion looked a year older than Bash himself, but he felt that he could take on the stallion. He slowed his pace, arching his neck as him and the bachelor circled one another. Bash was aware of the mare, who had stopped nearby to watch the outcome of the fight. He didn't have a chance to glance over and make sure the mare was okay. He knew that as soon as his attention was diverted, the bachelor would make his move.
"Get along, little colt. This is adult business." The roan mocked, his head arched high.
"Not a chance." Bash replied, "I can't just sit by when a lady is being bullied by such a big ugly brute as yourself."
The bachelor's nostrils flared as he lunged at him, a scream of anger leaving his mouth. Bash jumped towards him as well. They collided in a sweaty mess of fur and hooves. Bash didn't believe he'd come out unscathed, but he had a quicker disposition than the larger stallion and he used it to his advantage. The bachelor and him traded blows and bites, but it was Bash who came out on top. He had got a good bite out of the stallions leg and knocked him to the ground. The stallion flattened his ears, but ultimately surrendered to Sebastian.
"Get out of here." Bash threatened, blessing mercy on him instead of outright killing him.
The bachelor flattened his ears, but said nothing as he left. Bash waited until he was out of view before turning to the mare.
"Are you okay?" He asked, genuinely concerned for her well-being.
"I.. I am." She said, taking a bit aback at his soft demeanor.
It was very different from the roan that had been chasing her.
"Thank you." She said, "He's been herding me for almost a day now. He found me on my own, a bit away from my herd and was able to drive me away while my leader was otherwise distracted."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Bash replied. "If you'd like to stay with me and my herd, we'd be more than happy to offer you company and protection until you can find your herd?"
"They've all gone South for the winter, better grazing." She said with a sad smile. "It'll be spring by the time they make their way back. Would you mind if I stayed with your herd until then?"
"Of course not." Bash smiled, moving towards the mare and extending his head out to take in her scent so he'd be able to identify her later.
She did the same.
"I'm Sinner, by the way." She said.
"Sebastian, but you can call me Bash." He said turning away. "Follow me."
