i believe there are exceptions to all of those rules except the top one.

you know who aren't forgivable? people who've ruined your life so badly there's little that's salvageable and it takes you years and years of hard hard work to get it even partially better.

you know who deserves to die? pedophiles, rapists, serial murderers, and those people who did that sick, twisted thing to dusty the cat, those sorts of people...

but there's not a single acceptable excuse for being violent...

Poor Dusty didn't even fight back anymore at one point, like he'd just given up....and when he was mewing, wet, in the shower, it sounded like he was trying to say "just...end it" (not like his meows sounded like that, but the tone and look on his poor little kitty face...) That boy can just burn in hell for what he did to Dusty...

It's hard to accept that other people, so like oneself on the outside, can do things that are unimaginable to us. Great cruelty exists and it has provoked many to wish and even seek revenge for the pain caused. It helps to remember that while revenge satisfies temporarily it doesn't solve the problem. You've better off finding a way to make peace with it so that you can still exist as an example of how the world didn't go wrong.

Of course abuse is horrible... especially on something as deffenseless as a cat. Humans can be horrible. However I still agree with your three statements. The first because if I act violently on someone, even if they've done something wrong, it makes me just as bad as them. The second one because I think it's in human nature to be bad (most people don't realize when they're doing something wrong). And the third because again, it would make me just as bad (maybe worse) if I wanted them to die. However, I completely understand how you feel. Even though I try not to feel that way I've been in the same situation as you many times.

Abuse is terrible. Anyone that abuses those that cannot defend themselves, such as cats, deserve the worst punishment possible. Its not right. Its teaching further generations that its okay to push your weight around towards things that don't understand why you are hurting them. Its training those helpless beings to live in fear of somebody thats supposed to protect them. Its not right.

You didn't throw your morals out. You simply changed you opinion. Throwing your morals out would be committing these yourself.

By the way:

For anyone who doesn't know, I read a little more into the case... Apparently (not sure how accurate the sources are), the abusers were found and arrested, and thankfully, Dusty was given to a shelter.
I don't know if it makes a difference to anyone, but it made me feel a bit better to know there was justice and hopefully a loving home for the cat.

I don't blame you, love. I'm honestly too scared to watch the video, but based on what people have said... I would want to hurt him too. Indeed everyone is forgivable, but I think to some extent there needs to be some sort of repenting. (not in the religious confessional sense, but you get what I'm saying) People need to earn that forgiveness back. And it would take a hell of a lot to fix that.

But being so angry at this doesn't mean you lack morals, ST. What it means is that you're a good person. One thing I personally believe is that, while violence is unnecessary most of the time, when it comes to protecting someone that can't protect themselves, saving them is more important than sparing the abuser. I feel the same thing about child abuse, any sort of sexual abuse, and animal abuse: saving the victim (and any future victims) by any means necessary is more important than what happens to the abuser. In my book, you've done nothing wrong.

You know, human abuse has never bothered me. The holocaust, the bullying issues that have been addressed lately, even child abuse - although no one deserves it, without people like that in the world we'd have nothing to back up our morals.

But honestly, I had to pause several times and hug my dog and cry - literally cry - and I don't ever cry for anything. Animals are the picture of innocence - completely governed by experience and instinct, without speech to screw that up.

And now I'm making no sense, this was perfectly worded a minute ago in my brain... can't think right now >_>

I'm the same way. Animal abuse is the ONLY thing that just sets me off - in almost any other case, I can find a reason to forgive the person.

I'd also like to add that the camera man is just as bad, filming this kid abusing his cat and doing absolutely nothing to stop him.


I only saw a few seconds of the video (I skipped ahead) and now I'm shaking... Sometimes I'm ashamed to be human.

I'm absolutely horrified! I"m only the biggest cat lover maybe on this whole earth. The idea of someone hurting one or any animal really, pisses me the fuck off. I don't know those videos and I don't want to know those videos.
I mean, for the most people, I completely agree with your three rules, but when it comes to anyone hurting an animal, I hate them. I honestly hate them.

I'm so enraged right now, I can't even contain my anger. Just thinking about that poor cat.

I also believe everyone is forgivable (I don't fully agree with both the first and last one, personal reasons and opinions), and that screwed me up badly throughout my life. All your life you'll meet people that will screw you over for your morals, people that will mock you, use you and take advantage of your good will and honesty. And you will be a good person over and over, you will keep on forgiving and giving people a second and third and forth chance... And you'll hit your head and still manage to walk straight. And I honestly don't know what to tell you exactly, because all it's ever made me was lose faith in all people I meet. I can't trust anyone again due to recent and past events in my life, and yet I do give people another chance, but at the same time, there's a voice in back of my head whispering to me that everyone is a liar. That there's no hope whatsoever. That I can't trust anyone again, because I'll get hurt, I'll always do.
I wish I knew how to pull you out of that feeling, which words to say that would instantly give you your morals back, but that would mean I would have gotten myself out of it too. And I dont know what to do

ST, there are always unforgivable acts done by 'unforgivable' people, but remember there is no black or white. No one is so good they cant be crule and no one is so evil that they are un-redemable. You can not controle what anyone does except yourself and hope you rub off on a few.

I've already lost all faith in humanity, but the videos of the cat being hurt deeply disturbed me on a level I didn't think anything could touch on anymore. That boy has SERIOUS issues that a prison or psych ward needs to address. I wanted to cry when I saw that the cat stopped fighting back...the soul of that poor animal has been broken...

I think your morals are just being put to the test, ST. Not all morals are unbreakable, since "all rule has its exception". With some time, you'll "get over" the fact that...there are unforgivable things going on with the world, and rewrite your morals... Best of luck with that

It's not wrong to sort of throw your morals out the window, but I'm sure they'll come back. They're what you believe in, and some things may change some of that, but not for long.
I am an animal lover by heart, and I cannot bear such innocent animals to be tortured by anything.
In fact, to prevent my rash/violent/reckless nature from doing anything, I'm really not going to go look up that site.
But it's understandable that your morals may be questioned at times.

everyone has feelings like that at some point, i share your morals too. the fact that such a hideous act has this effect on you is good, it shows you're a decent person who knows right from wrong. as long as you would never act on the feelings you are having, your morals are still intact x
