Description
This is a spread done for Thor 620.1 for Marvel Comics. It basically tells the history of Thor from his early incarnation to now. It was penciled digitally and inked traditionally and then colored by the amazing Sonia Oback. The original measured 16"X32".If you would like a lithograph of this piece feel free to e-mail markbrooksart@msn.com for information. The lithograph measures the same as the original (16"X32") and is printed on heavy weight satin finished paper. Litho is $30 plus shipping. All lithos come signed and numbered and is a limited run of 200 copies.

Now that you say that I do remember my teacher saying something about metal Litho... In most of the classes I'm taking we focus on the "old" techniques of printmaking. The only real modern Litho process we have talked about is Pronto-Plates, where you print out an image in grey scale using an ink-jet printer and then transfer the image by getting the plate wet and then rolling ink over it. Since the ink is oil based it only sticks to the areas where there was ink from the printer since they wont hold water. (I'm not at all sure I explained that well.)
I have never seen Litho done on a metal plate before... you mentioned CMYK... is the way you separate the colors onto the separate plates similar to the way you use when making a CMYK screen print? Like where each color goes on separate and mixes on the paper to form the end result color you see? Also is the metal etched similar to an etching to get the sections for the different colors, or how does that work? In the Wiki article it mentioned chemical and non-chenical processes.
Sorry for all the questions... Im just curious, and honestly excited to find someone else who knows a bit about printmaking.

Just looking at it is giving me a headache. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of detail and work that went into this. I mean you'd expect some sloppiness here and there, hidden in corners or something, but no.

The term "epic" gets overused, but this is totally deserving. Just a really incredible top end piece. I think it's a great idea that you're including the pencils and the inks in the print.
