Upon yon canvas shadows dance, their forms
Entwined in sorrow’s timeless, gloomy embrace,
Where whispering winds weave tales of mournful norms,
And pallid visages reveal despair's trace.
In this realm of dread and shadowed desire,
Where hope seems but a flicker 'midst the gloom,
The heart, entangled in fear’s cruel pyre,
Does tremble ‘neath the weight of impending doom.
Each stroke unveils the battle within the soul,
‘Twixt yearning’s flame and the icy grip of dread,
Where aspirations, like the tide, doth roll,
Yet often succumb to the shadows widespread.
The eyes, those windows to our deepest self,
Do gleam with wishes unfulfilled, yet dreamt,
While chains of helplessness constrain one's wealth
Of spirit, rendering it all but exempt.
The echo of our own relentless time
Resounds within this somber, haunting frame,
Reminding all of irreversible crime
Committed ‘gainst ourselves in life’s great game.
Yet, within the shadows and the somber hue,
A glimmer of unyielding strength resides,
A whisper of the resilience that grew
Within the soul where deepest courage abides.
So gaze upon this melancholy piece,
And see reflected there thine own dark fears,
Yet also find the strength that ne'er decease,
