Experimenting just adding a bit of color for effect
Dynamic Events is a comic based on the upcoming Guild War 2 MMO by ArenaNet. It's meant for people who are familiar with the game setting.

hmm, cant help but notice the the pie on the animation bed, laying on one of the nodes. you think it could have contributed to the golem's.... uniqueness? well, whatever happened, hurray for gir's trans-dimensional doppelganger.

Toll figures out the reason for SMARTIE's behavior later, but the evil clown pie likely played a part
And while GIR was certainly part of the inspiration, I always thought the little golem should sound more like GLaDOS.

oh, touche, gir with a bit of glados? yep, if the golem wasn't on their side, the world would be DOOMED.....if the golem starts singing the doom song, i may just lose it and literally ROFL...not that it would be beneficial to my health.
