- this is the last addition to my Simplify 8 VS for Windows 8.1 pack. I really like this one a lot so I wanted to release it separately so I can share it with you guys as well. I really hope you like it! ENJOY!
- Wallpaper used: Monument Valley Unofficial Wallpaper 5K .
• create a Restore Point using System Restore (safety first!)
• patch Windows so you can use 3rd party themes using this tool: uxstyle.com
• install the themes by copying the content of Theme folder in "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\"
• apply the themes from the Personalize panel
• apply the registry settings by applying the simplify_8_light_blue_window_metrics.reg in the Window Metrics folder
• remove the hover glow of the taskbar buttons: System>Advanced Settings>Performance Settings>uncheck Animations in the taskbar
• restart Windows and...
• enjoy using the themes!
• use use OldNewExplorer to remove the Ribbon in Windows Explorer by checking Use command bar instead of Ribbon option and all the sub-options except for the Hide caption text in File Explorer windows
• OPTIONAL! narrow vertical taskbar: use 7+ Taskbar Tweaker . Right click on the tray icon>advanced settings and set the no_width_limit = 1
• OPTIONAL! change the system icons: install the numix iPack

I had the Windows 10 version of this. It was really nice. I've downgraded to 8.1, and I was really happy to see this available even if it's 4 years old! LOL dpcdpc11 is a true artist with styles!

It took me a while to jump from 8.1 to 10 because in 8.1 I was still able to customize the taskbar. But now I can't go back. Too much work stuff depends on Windows 10

If you're on Windows 8.1 and follow the instructions in the description and create a restore point like I'm suggesting in the instructions, there's nothing to worry about.

I haven't used Windows 8 in many years.. didn't know UxStyle is not available anymore. Of course, you can use UltraUXThemePatcher or SecureUxTheme or whichever patcher works with 8.1.

been rocking your simplify dark version for a while but this light version looks nice too! but how do you completely remove everything in the explorer? i have removed the ribbon but the toolbar is still there (the toolbar with the file edit view tools help). Thanks!

glad you're using my themes!
the toolbar is removed by the theme itself using a hack in the shellstyle.dll.
So be sure to have this file copied in the Shell\NormalColor\ folder because some antiviruses are deleting this dll since it's a hacked system file.

My explorer bar doesn't isn't dark gray like in the theme. Can anyone help? I've been having this problem for a long time and I cant figure it out.

You didn't set up old new explorer properly. Please read the instructions carefully. If you still can't get it right, attach a screenshot so I can take a look at the problem.

This will probably be the first theme I'll port to Windows 10. Not sure when, since time is not really my best friend.
And my problem with Windows 10 is that since the November update or TH2 release, it's a bit complicated to make the custom themes work. I see many people having problems with this. Hopefully there's going to be an easy to install patch soon just like the ones for windows 8.1 or 7.

Awesome! didn't know that! Finally... I've been waiting for this for a long time. As soon as I get some free time on my hands I'll install Win10 in a virtualbox and start theming!
