Description WOO finally.  This one looks a bit better in person but what can you do.  The wax of the colored pencils is a bit reflective.  This one turned out rather nicely.  (Only after I finished 2/3 of the dragon did I realize the coloration was like Spiro.  That was not my intention just the colored pencils that worked best together.)  These are Dick Blick Pencils.  They were recommended to me by   rachaelm5 .  I might be reaching my limit for what I can do with these pencils.  I had planed of finishing this differently but they would not layer any more.  Maybe that is normal but it seemed my one prismacolor was less waxy and thus would not have the same problem.  They have been great pencils to learn with however.  This is my mixed media paper.

What I would fix:
Mostly my troubles were due to materials limits.  I got rushed to finish so I did less detail in the background than I would have liked.  I need to work on the top of heads.  I was doing too much and they looked weird now I have over corrected the other way.  lol  The hips are really weird... Otherwise I think it showed growth and taught me a lot so I am pretty proud of this one.

Surprised myself with:
The yellow to orange gradient worked out great.  The shadows turned out better than I thought up close.   So proud of the palm side of the hand.  Really neat perspective and doesn't look too distorted.  Fun dragon design.  The dorsal fin was inspired by koi.  The coloration was inspired by ocean animals and their counter shading(could not figure out where it would be on the hind limbs.

Oh and in case people are confused it is a bookmark.  There is another on the way, maybe two.

The perspective of this is really fun, nice idea! It's cool to see both sides of the dragon- on one, you see the fluidity of the movement, and o the other you can see the paddling, which I find cute and cool

I don't thing the dragon looks much like spyro- despite what some fans say, not all purple dragons look the same. The wings are way different, and spyro doesn't have fins anything like this one.

Would it be alright if at some point I made something like this using one of my characters? I'd make sure to credit you for the concept/inspiration.

Thanks.

Sure, this is how artists grow and learn.

If you are interested I am always looking for my dragons to be re-imagined in different styles.  (Raoul in particular, or Avatar, or the salamander dragon, or even the armadillo dragon)  Looking forward to see what you come up with.

I really, really dig the vision from below the water Nice work.
I think you got the right amount of detail... it doesn't look overworked and the simpler style fits well with the bold colours.
