This is a very nice piece that certainly shows the capabilities you hold and that you also have a style of drawing which is both vivid in character detail and charming overall. You certainly have something with strength with your style with elements of anime seen around the facial design and hair, it certianly works well and with some good practice this could become very iconic amongst the crowd. You seem to know quite well the design of facial anatomy and working with how hair flows around the head and the smooth flow as it flutters around him really is effective and certainly makes it more realistic than going into a more imaginative style of approach.
It might be nice to see this worked on some more with some colour even though it is some gift art since it would be interesting to see how you would work a style of colouring into your drawing.
Overall this is a sign of potentials so keep it up.
