The art is inspired by stories of the First Nation people of the US, reading Heymeyhost Storms books are alive with spirit for me, and continued work comes to me from them.
Changing Woman was traditionally a Navaho story and tradition for the initiation of young woman into womanhood. This work shows the 4 stages of life and change, with the symbolism of totems animals and the Medicine wheel. The picture is a story.
Changing woman represents one who is transformed time and again, growing old and becomeing young again with the change of the seasons.
It is Changing Woman who gives the people abundance and provides the teachings that allow the people to live in harmony with all things.. her teaching is of the wisdom of nature and the cycles of life.. birth life death.

As the myth says... "Whatever is on earth's surface and the means of making life possible have been given unto her charge."
