actually not. this was a very cloudy day + i used an NDX400 filter which reduces light by 9 stops

yeah, i really loved this filter but then i stopped using it and got rid of it. this baby costs quite a lot of money. when i combined it with ir filter i could do very long exposures on sunny days. several minutes

Awesome, I must get myself one and try it out! I wonder if one could achieve the same but cheaper effect with the plastic filters for lighting equipment.

Hi,

I wouldn't use anything else. I tried various things, even a welding mask glass, but it does not compare to the real filter at all. I even used to do nudes with this filter: [link] [link] [link] [link]

Those are very cool, kind of reminds me of my "Downtown" series a little bit [link] although I did not use any filters for that.

i really dig your downtown series. wish I could see the exhibit. did you make analog prints for that or digital?

I scanned the positive film with a top of the range scanner and so far have only done giclΓ©e prints with a large format epson - they came out amazingly, if I may say so myself. (The negatives were converted to positives by cross proccessing the film [dr5.com]. This greatly increased the tones and d-max, but I'm not sure if you could still make traditional enlargements now as they aren't negatives anymore). I guess a type R print would be possible, but not very economical.

this is common practice nowadays i think. most people can't allow themselves be as oldschool as todd hido however the large epson prints are indeed of very decent quality. analog prints always have this elusive quality to them, so this is a pity they are slowly becoming a thing of the past

Yea, it is a shame... but the same goes for many things of the past (architecture, cars, women [haha], etc)
