Well, for the software I use Photoshop CS5. Quite common. And not that it really matters, but the graphics tablet that I use is Hanvon Art Master III, although any decent graphics tablet is pretty much the same.

cool... Im just learning the Wacom Bamboo Create tablet, its pretty awesome. Have you used corel painter at all? Thats whats im mainly using right now, but I have a photoshop class next semester. Keep up the awesome work!!

Nope, haven't used Corel Painter. I've seen that you can make amazing stuff with it, though. o.o But, uh, I use Photoshop mainly and Paint Tool SAI for drawing like, anime/manga-ish people, or just faces and bodies in general.
