HOW DO YOU KNOW WHERE TO PUT THE SHADOWING?

Haha, a lot of time and practice! I try to think of where shadows would naturally fall on a body and from where they would be based on the light source. Generally the cheeks, nose and forehead tend to be a bit darker since they're the higher points on the face and get the most sun. For Mai, her breasts are going to have more shadow then someone smaller. Her bangs are quite large and would create a shadow down on her forehead. The way the skirt of her dress falls would have folds down the front even when stationary and for the upper half of her clothing (and clothing in general) I try to think in terms of shadows going horizontally whereas for the skirt I had some more vertical lines. I wish I could explain that better ^^'
