Description
When loneliness sets in, when love waits, when his dreams dissolve, he locks himself in his own prison, out of sight to hide his dismay. But in the distance, there's still a faint hope, and he clings to this last image of his last dream.
TigerEgern commented on 1982- When loneliness sets in .
I cling on to the iron bars
Encasing all my dreams
Cold and hard and harsh
They bind me to my dread
I lean my head against the metal
Setting me apart from life
And taste the bitter vile
Of my captured heart
I muster all my carnal strength
Roar and clench my shaking hands
Throw myself against the alloy
Hardened by my own despair
With my final drop of zest
I run my worn and crippled finger
Gently down the polished steel
In a desperate last attempt
With this gentle little touch
The rods so blunt and brute
Dissolve into a puff of dust
As the sparrows sing for me.
