The sun had started set and the young blonde laid in bed, her chest and right leg wrapped in bandages, with a bottle of pain medicine next to the bed. The emerald green eyes stared at the dust particles floating through the air, appearing and disappearing in the beam of light streaming in through the yellow-tinted window, casting a yellow light over the room. A knock on the door made the eyes turn towards it, "Yes?"

The short dark skinned woman known to the blonde as Mink entered the room, having an irritated look on her face. The blonde tensed, not knowing what she did to cause such a look on Mink's face. "Now that those people are gone, I can finally ask this. Where the fuck were you when that horde attacked?!"

The anger and exasperation clear in her voice, making it sound more airy than normal. "I-I had been outside already, searching for food or something to do, when I was inside the building, there were so many infected that just appeared..." the timid and scared voice responded.

Mink's hand pinched the bridge of her nose, "You should've came back, we needed you!"

"I-I didn't know! I found a remnants team, and one of them was injured... I just went to the closest spot that would be safe..."

An irritated sigh escaped her, Mink's eyes were closed, and the hand didn't stop pinching her nose. "Whatever, I know you've been waking up in the middle of the night a lot, I want to know if you might've seen who put that shit on the ground" the exasperation was stuck in her voice.

"Y-yeah, I saw someone put the guts on the ground... it was dark, b-but they looked like from the hospital we had saved the other faction members...." Marigold's voice would stutter every now and again.

"There's two hospitals Marigold"

"I-I didn't know, I've only been to one, and that's where the fang was..."

Mink opened her eyes, narrowing them, then murmuring, "thanks" and left the room, slamming the door behind her.

The bed ridden girl flinched to the door getting slammed, "I thought I did what was right...." was the last thing that came out of her mouth. Her eyes turned back to the dying light from the window, some of her own heart dying with the light. She didn't know she would have disappointed her friend so much if she didn't go back to the faction...

As night covered the earth in darkness, the blonde laid wide awake in bed for the rest of the night.
