History:
Born one of three kits to loving parents Bo and Nov, Fenn spent his first days in the quintessential Nombeko family unit. He played with his siblings, learned about tasty things to eat, and most importantly: he learned when to hide from the terrors in the sky. Fenn never expected to get into trouble underground. During an eagle attack, Fenn went to ground in a different hole than the rest of his family. He was found by another nombeko, one covered liberally in scars. Without hesitation the stranger herded Fenn away from his family, and the trusting kit followed along. He found himself suddenly a part of a strange clan, the Talonbaits, and they wouldn't let him leave! Fenn hasn't seen his family since.
During the Shadow attack on Nombeko lands, the Talonbaits were vital in turning the tide of battle into an eventual victory for the small equines. Fenn discovered he had fire magic while attempting to survive the slaughter and earned the name 'Scorcher' from the matriarch of the Talonbaits, Uress the Claw. Now that he has been named, Fenn was no longer forced to serve as a Bait-Kit during eagle raids. Instead, he is apprenticed to the trappers of the clan until he was old enough to use his magic reliably.
Fenn, or Scorch as he came to be called, became more and more accustomed to life as a Talonbait. He was close with a certain rat princess named Elil and was usually to be found somewhere in the older tom's shadow. Slowly adjusting to his new life, Scorcher became more confident in his own capabilities, as well as jaded to the losses of everyday life among the Talonbaits.
Once he was five years old and recognized as a full member of the clan, Scorcher developed fierce pride in his role as a trapper. Memories of his life before being part of the Talonbaits clan were faded and forgotten. Instead, the young tom spent his time deep in planning for hunts, or practicing his fire magic for the benefit of the clan. After the Austerian tournament, Fenn sired his own first litter of bait-kits. Adapting to the albeit odd Talonbait style of parenting, Scorcher was very proud of his kits and their incredible survival rate.
In Autumn of 2002, Scorcher was caught by one of the massive and newly introduced Stormbirds and ripped away from his life in the Talonbaits clan. Through luck and a strange weapon, the young tom managed to escape his would be hunter and fell from the sky. His broken and battered body was found by his forgotten father, who had learned of his son's would be fate thanks to Overseer Rasiel's magic. Fenn, or Fennriel as his father called him, was saved from a gruesome fate and healed by a magical item. While his worst wounds were mended, Fennriel's body still carry the scars of his experiences. His mind was damaged in the fall, finding the young tom adrift without memory of his life before awakening injured and alone.
Grateful for the strange yet familiar presence of Bohannon, Fennriel now travels with his long lost father and works as an excavator. He's a quiet soul who feels like he ought to keep contributing to help others, but doesn't really know if there's a place for him in the world. For now, it is enough to wake up each day and take life as it comes.
