Do you ever have those days when you wonder if you ever really knew how to draw because NOTHING seems to be working? Lol! Some days my brain and fingers feel like they have absolutely no connection! Haha! Well, I was having one of those, so I decided to loosen up by painting a little.I had been looking at some amazing paint work by and in the comments noticed she had shared the brush setting in SAI she used. It happened to be a brush (altered just slightly) that I avoid, because I never liked it! Haha! Now, this in no way resembles her quality of work (which you NEED to see!). But, it inspired me!
I only meant to just play with it but ended up painting the whole thing. And, I must say! I am now in love with that brush! The texture and blending... It worked so well that I didn't need more then 1 layer for the skin.
Anyway... for once I think the painted version looks more like my OC then the line. Usually it is the other way around. This version makes Uman look more his age, which is somewhere around 40-years-old. Obviously though, it isn't perfect! I struggle with painting. Something I am really trying to learn!
Sooo.... I kind of like the textured, painted look, but honest opinion... yes? No?
SAI brush setting: Marker with brush shape set to Fine Flat... I also added the brush texture Fiber 1 but lowered the intensity. I like texture. XD (I used this only for the face)

Wow he looks fantastic, you certainly work well with that brush setting - makes it look almost like traditional work, the texture of his skin is so believable

Oh my goodness! Your painting skills are amazing, I'm so jealous (because you have SAI)- this looks brilliant, he looks even better coloured..although for some reason I pictured him with dark hair, so a pleasant surprise, he looks sort of Nordic

Thank you so much! It is rare for me to feel this way, but I actually like the colored version better too. Actually, I think this is the first painting of mine that I have felt that way! Lol! Hopefully that means progress!

If you ever have a chance to get SAI you should! I got the trial version first and was hooked! Had to buy it! I did the conversion and if you use KWD? It is 16.22 KWD. In USD it is 57.66. So well worth the money! A friend of mine said she had both SAI and the really expensive Photoshop version and she preferred SAI. XD I still like having the cheap elements version of photoshop. It still comes in handy, but now I use it mostly for finishing things... some of the brushes are real great! But for drawing... definitely SAI. It feels more realistic and it is so smooth. Lol! Sorry, I got carried away. I probably sound like an advertisement! Haha!

He does indeed, which I think it brilliant.
I got a trial once, back when my laptop was still running decently, I sort of got bored and fed up and removed it, now unfortunately I'm afraid that if I get the program and install it, my entire laptop will die

I like it. The texture definitely added a grit and character to it that looks right for this guy.
