Description minor edit: I remembered that Hyponde is the world where Winderians live. which is stupid because Winderians aren't supposed to fight with themselves.

Finally, good art. Now guys, say hi to Infiny, aka my only mammalian character in the entire world, among hundreds of dragons, with a few birds and humans thrown in. gee, Grove, I applaud you for your delightful variety of characters.

Fortunately I've kept him through the years because his role was rather big. 8D

Infiny's a- well, the Portal Guardian. Past portal guardians have been tasked to keep portals closed and make sure they stay that way, for in the early times the dragons of different lands who crossed to other worlds have been in conflict, especially over their beliefs.

The greatest conflict was between the Winderai and Aeoliande clans, because both their gods were fire gods and because they both treasured the Legalol, a sacred sea creature.

But while Aeoliande believed the Legalol was the god's holy messenger, Winderai were happy to serve the Legalol... as their favorite dish. Delicious.

Back to portal guardian. Well, yes, conflict existed between the clans, however there was friendship between them too. Regardless, due to the threat of wars, the gods decided that the portals be closed forever. Busy on their own, they assigned that task to Bessori, who later became the sea goddess, and so assigned the task to some other godly being.

Every few hundred years the one tasked would die from the overwhelming demands of the job, and during the time the next guardian is trained for the job... The portal stays open. during these times, exchanges between clans occurred, and ultimately this became more of a benefit than a threat. (the Winderai and Aeoliande clans eventually got over their differences, too)

And when the guardian is ready for the job- the portal is immediately, and suddenly, closed, leaving many separated from their homelands and loved ones for the rest of their lives.

It was that time again. Exchanges were happening amongst the clans, ensuring that they make the most of the approximately twenty years that the portal is open. Everyone was pleased.

Infiny wasn't. The previous portal guardians took it as a great honor to be chosen by Bessori to do the task, but Infiny liked the sudden happiness around him. He didn't want to let the clans live in separate worlds, but he was forced to. When he finished training, he did not close the portal, and Bessori was outraged. After pleading, it was decided that he can do as he wished but was warned that he will soon regret his choice, and that his life will become meaningless.

For almost 800 years already the clans have had freedom to communicate to each other. Without the burden of forcing the powerful portal to close, Infiny has lived longer than his predecessors. But the words of Bessori prove true as he no longer has much motivation to live except the thought that the clans will once again be cut off from each other with the arrival of the next guardian.

But chance has finally listened to his sighs. He heard her voice, which to him was like a phoenix's song.

Anyway, eh, just really wanted to do a picture of Infiny. I changed the design a bit, still extremely simple. -w- It's alright though.
