Ok I am not going to lie to you. After the amazing response to the Dracula post yesterday I was really afraid that I had "Jumped the Shark" on this years 13 Nights. I really had a chill of fear and self doubt in picking the next image.I know that Dracula was one of the best in the series but there are others I really like as well, so I push on.Today is Jason. This was a radical learning piece and it is very important in the series. I have had a tendency to almost draw rather than paint the details in much of my work. I challenged myself in this piece to stick to more of a paintbrush style rather than going with a more opaque and graphic tool. There is a great sense of play in the layers of paint on the mask,it also helps give a gritty look.

When it comes to Freddy and Jason...Jason is just more scary...I think it's because he doesn't say any wisecracks or taunt his victims, he just gets the job done like a true pro.

Well done- I don't think any image can ever do justice to the concept of jason though, I don't even think the actual movies even did justice to the concept.

This style is a mix between the mummy and dracula for me. I like it but Drac still rules.

I love it! You may feel like you have the tendency to draw in the details, but in all your work, I see the paint. The texture and detail in the mask brings this to life, which considering how many times Jason is brought back to life is very fitting.
Which movie did you base this off? I ask because all we fans know he looks a bit different from movie to movie.

Mask pattern and the lack of a slice in the upper left portion of the mask puts this Jason at the original Hockey Mask of Friday the 3th Part 3.
(Just a guess the reference was from a press photo I found)
