actually it's also about the red line.
In the Fairytales, Everyone is bound to his/her destined lover by a thin red line on their little fingers by the old man under the moon("Yuelao", not sure about the english translation....). So no matter how far they are they can finally find each other.
But who knows. The red line is really thin, you can always cut it with a little sciessor.

I love the subtle tones and consistent color scheme--key word being 'consistent.'
My only concern is the black line down the middle of the piece. I understand that is the style you intended, but at the same time, it detracts from the overall interaction of the two characters. Whether or not you intended them to be actually interacting in the image, simply by being on the same plane they are working together, so that itchy black barrier poses a problem.

Its super gorgeous and super visceral, like I can feel myself in their bodies because of all of the details in the hands, and legs, muscles, tendons, bones, veins, skin and her bloated belly.
It reminds me a little of Egon Schiele.
The only thing I would say about it is that her face seems a little too perfect, too idealized. I kind of wish she had thicker eyebrows, or a larger nose.
