Reminds of one of those unobtainium powered reactors. Nice work.

Isn't that the rare metal that is used in Nuclear reactors?
Thanks!

Meltin In reply to GypsyH [2011-03-25 03:36:50 +0000 UTC]

It may be. I meant it as a joke tho'. It's a reference a friend of mine used from time to time. We were both machinists in the same shop. Any metal that was really hard to cut,he referred to as "unobtainium".lol
I think he may have gotten it from a friend of his,who worked as a chemist. I had the opportunity to meet this friend, just the other day,as a matter of fact. I remembered, and used "unobtainium" on him. He laughed as if it was an old joke. Then said something about krypton, and some other stuff. I was lost. Nice guy but,way too smart for me.lol
You're very welcome!

Now it is nice to have Geek friends! No I didn't Google it this time. LOL - I read it once in an article in Newsweek or one of those magazines of that type. I get interested in learning new things.
I have a friend that is a real nerdy geek and I used to get fascinated with some of the conversations he would hold with people at parties etc. Is Krypton like the Kryptonite that weakend Superman?

Meltin In reply to GypsyH [2011-03-25 05:32:04 +0000 UTC]

My machinist buddy isn't really a geek.lol He is a child of the 60's tho'. He's got about 10 yrs on me,but a lifetime of intelligence. I don't care what you want to talk about,he knows something about it. He's really into tube gear. Hifi audio, and musical instrument amplifiers. He built a really nice sounding preamp for guitar. He's working on my guitar amp,and my old Dallas/Arbiter Fuzz Face right now,as a matter of fact. By the way,Gary Moore's version of "Red House" was...cute.lol I'm teasing. He's an awesome guitar player. A master of the wah pedal, back in the Thin Lizzy days.
"Geek" friends are great. I'm really curious as well. I've managed to learn an awful lot from the ones I've had.
Newsweek? Aww,I thought maybe you were familiar with the tune. It's cool you remembered it tho'.
Krypton is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, inert gas. Kryptonite is the Superman bane.

I was a Hippie child in the 60's. Ha
I love talking to people that can talk about anything from building a table to music.
Music is a part of my everyday life. I it!
Guitars are one of my fave instruments to listen to and I can go all the way to violins and piano's as well. Yep he loved his wah wah pedal when he was with Thin Lizzy and I noticed when he went solo, he didn't use it as much and his style changed for the better actually.
Re Krypton - I guess I should have googled that one!

So you were one of those California Dreamin' types?lol I'm a child of the 70's. Graduated in '78. I hated disco, fyi.
Yea,it's nice to share little bits of your brain with other people, isn't it.lol
Music is a huge part of my life as well. I still play guitar everyday. I haven't been in a band type situation since the late 80's. I can't handle all the attitudes that go with it. PLus,I don't want to play note for note cover tunes, over, and over, and over. Makes me crazy. I write my own music. It's much more rewarding. I don't think I could handle playing in front of a bunch of people anymore, anyway.lol
You know, alot of musicians seem to lose their edge,as they grow older.(except for Jeff Beck) I don't quite understand that. Eric Clapton is a really good example. He's so predictable, and "sissified",compared to the old days. I can't listen to him anymore. Too refined, and perfect. I remember reading an interview with Frank Zappa once,in which he said he tried to get Clapton to come by and jam. He declined. Frank thought it was too much for him to handle. Altho',The Mothers were a crazy bunch.lol Still,as open minded as they were, how could you make a mistake? I would've jumped at the opportunity.
Google is a wonderful thing.

I like Eric Clapton - but he has changed to a more laid back style in my opinion. I am a Pink Floyd nut too. Not California Dreamin' type - Ha - I graduated before you did.

Clapton is much better live. I'll say that for him. Pink Floyd is very cool.
I won't ask when you graduated. Wouldn't want to cause any outfreakage over there.lol
The Bee Gees were so much better, before Saturday Night Fever.
