I havent seen much of the 1966 version, just youtube stuff, I think i was thrown off it slightly because the english voices werent that great.

Being a bit of an animal rights enthusiast i found the episode really touching, especially how Kimba was saying that a her life looks glamerous but it's a constrained existence.

Do you happen to know where i can get a Japanese version with subtitles?

No idea on a Japanese version with subtitles. I like to find that for the 1989 version.

I think the first episode of Kimba i ever watched was number 8 of the english version, it was about him meeting his aunt for the first time and for the first time i really understand this series, it's about how more of mankind should work side by side with animals instead of hunting them.

It's very ecological (if thats the right word)

I've decided not to watch Kimba till i can find a japanese version with subtitles.

You must be referring to the 1989 version. I know that episode as well. Unfortunately the 1989 version doesn't carry the theme of Kimba organizing a "civilized jungle". The original 1966 version does, however carry that theme.

"The Sun Tree" was about an old tree that was always the first to receive the rays of the sun at sunrise and the last to receive at sunset. The tree was on the verge of being destroyed by an upcoming storm. After Kimba had a dream in which he spoke with the Sun Tree, he was determined to save it despite the objection of Dan'l Baboon's nephew. He and the animals made a great effort in trying to rescue the tree during the storm. But after the storm and everyone rejoice in their success, the tree collapses. As Kimba cries for his failure and was about to face the wrath of Dan'l Baboon's nephew, a sapling was discovered at the stump where the tree stood. The sapling was then looked upon as the beginning of a new hope for the Sun Tree. The picture of course, has Kimba ready to water the sapling knowing that the right care can grow great optimism.

Thank you for the fave on this picture.
