Kan: The problem with images is that you can't hear what they're going to say so the composition has to be powerful in itself to show the emotion you want to portray. I did a number of compositions before settling on this one. As with all commissions so far, being told "halfbody/thigh-up" only and "no bg/gradient bg" really pushes me to make a composition that would look good even without a fancy, detailed BG--and Hen colors them in so nicely. Sometimes I wonder how she understands my sketches . . .
