The Necropolis is truly an evil and wretched place. What was once holy and pure are twisted into the opposite, bound to serve the Element of Dark forever, going against what they once fought for.

Death Knights were once actual Knights, though not necessarily serving for the Element of Light. In most cases, as the knighthood in Haven have been blessed by the Light, their bodies cannot be corrupted by Dark even in death, unless something changed before they died, such as a change in beliefs or being tricked into giving up the Light.

In death, Death Knights are relentless. With the skills they have procured while living and the eternal prowess of undying, they can afford to be. Their steeds, in similar fashion to the Celestial Steeds of the Light, are specially bred as well. Deep in the bowels of the Necropolis, the Liches have prepared a special pit where all the fear, sadness and life essences the other denizens have collected will be merged with the darkness and a pile of bones at the bottom of the pit, and this combination will give rise to a Death Stallion. Like the Celestial Steed, the Death Stallion is both incorporeal and tangible at the same time.
