Description

I have been having fun making these unicorns! I thought my original two had slightly wonky faces, so I decided to make another as a chance to practice. I really like this one's doll-like snub-nosed face, plus I think I did a good job on her hind legs. I had set out to make a cherry blossom unicorn, and I thought a pale, sky-blue body would be a good starting point. I didn't go in for a wood texture on her mane or tail, but I did choose shades of brown to hearken back to tree branches. And oh my goodness! Adding the flowers really made this piece. I am so happy with how they turned out, especially the little extra petal/bud spots. She's definitely my favorite unicorn to date.

Crafted from Premo and Fimo polymer clay, as well as hand-painted glass cabochons. This unicorn has been sold.

She's really cute!  One note on your unicorns, assuming a basic horse body, the hooves shouldn't be cloven.   If you care.  Or not. It's basically a style choice since we can't walk up to one and say "May I see your feet?"  Again, really cute, good job!

Horses were originally a polydactyl(multi toed) animal, even now the vestigial lump of a second toe is seen on the back of the fetlock. The very last of these have been accepted to still be around in early human times. Alexander the Great's horse, Bucephalus, is believed to have had two well visible vestigial, non functional toes per hoof. Occasionally even now a horse will be born with a recognisable extra toe.
Myth is often written on distorted fact.

That... may be one of the weirdest things I've seen.  I spent some time grooming horses so I'm aware of the fetlock (thank you for the word) toe but only in a dewclaw kind of way.  I did not know about Bucephalus.  Pretty much all the unicorns I've seen were built like the modern horse, with the occasional beard so when I saw this most recent unicorn had cloven hooves, I mentioned it.  It has been an educational moment for me, thank you Lynx and Dragons!

Well you're way more up on the lore than I am!  I've always seen the typical horse-bodied type.  I do recall seeing a beard but I'm not sure where, probably the cover of a book I read.  So they're more chimera than horse with a horn, interesting.  (Of course I'm using the term chimera loosely here and don't mean in the classic greek monster sense.   )  It all comes down to a design/style choice so go which ever way works for you, you know better than I do what practice will do for you.  Thanks for the lore, it was really interesting.

I've seen the cover for it, flipping through movies on Netflix but I've never watched it.  I don't think they have beards either, at least not the one on the poster!
