Description
“Who… who would want my brother dead?” Sara questioned looking over the note for what felt like the hundredth time tonight, she and her brother along with the young lieutenant were inside of their apartment back in Tambolo after leaving the maze.
To recap, someone had kidnapped Team Halo’s Tayo for unknown reasons. Team Halo sought out to investigate this with the help of local law enforcement officer Lieutenant York Harland, who gladly offered his help. They set out to the maze where the young snake Pokémon was last seen, once arriving in the center of the maze they did not find the snake instead encountering several individuals who put up a fight.
Aragorn saw a symbol he hadn’t seen since he was a child, a symbol of death and blood. One he actually feared, one he wished he’d never see again.
Now they had retreated back to Tambolo, Aragorn sitting at the table as Sara continued to stare at the letter she held in her paws. Lieutenant York paced the room with his hands clasped behind his back as his eyes were glued to the floor.
“We should go to the Watery Depths.” Aragorn said, finally speaking up after several minutes of silence.
“But what about t-” Sara started but was cut off by Aragorn holding up his hand, shushing her.
“We can just sit here and wait until an assassin pops into the apartment,” the water type told his electric type sister, “the longer we go without doing anything the more Tayo could be in danger.” getting up he started towards the window and looked out it, noticing the red tinted sun he scowled.
“I don’t like this Aragorn,” the electric squirrel told him, “someone wants you dead and you’re just going to go strolling out to the watery depths, what if someone decides to assassinate you?”
“Then so be it,” the sea otter growled as he stepped away from the window and over to the door, ”I allowed Tayo into the team, that makes him my responsibility.” His hand made it to the knob, and he took the time to add, “and I’ll be damned if I let some weak pathetic attempt at my life stop me from getting him back.”
Watery Depths
The sun was close to setting now, casting a brilliant bright reddish hue across the horizon. However in the watery depth’s thick mist it was hard to see, unless you were to fly over it. The area was named the watery depths due to its deep caves going beneath the land, which if you were to go down far enough you would come across several deep bodies of water some of which were told to hold some rare species of Pokémon.
The mist was not easy to venture through let alone navigate, and you had to be a water type to do so effectively. The sounds of rushing water filled the air, along with several Pokémon calls.
In the mist a faint light could be seen from several torches, all of them placed in the ground in a circle. Standing next to each torch was a hooded figured of some sort. Some were bipedal while others were Quadrupeds, all of them patiently waited for their leader to speak.
In the middle stood their leader, he to donned the same cloak as the others which effectively hid his species from his disciples or any outsider eyes. His piercing dark red eyes looked at the circle before they locked on the small Pokémon in front of him, he grinned a toothy grin.
In front of him being held down by chains and two mon with sharp looking spears was none other, then Tayo Macoy. His eyes were still blindfolded as he lay on the ground unconscious, his body was covered in small injuries and his tail blade stained with small amounts of blood.
The leader of this group of Pokémon lifted his head, and gave each of his disciples a look a feeling a terror down their spines. He held out his hands and in one of them was a staff of sorts encrusted with many priceless jewels, “My loyal followers,” he started, his voice smooth and dark like a shrouded lake, “tonight we have a guest as you can see here.” he gestured with his staff and pointed to the injured snake Pokémon.
Several of the followers gazed at Tayo, some of them smiling widely showing sharpened fangs and a lust for blood. One of them stepped forward, and without hesitance asked, “can we eat him?” he asked, drool leaving the corners of his mouth as the thought of fried Seviper.
“No.” a voice said from behind him, the mon who spoke up looked behind him and was quickly dispatched of with a blow to the head, “he is not to eat.” The mon warned him, a light green color was just barely visible under his cloak.
The leader continued speaking as if one of his subordinates hadn’t just clocked the other in the head, “My brothers and sisters, tonight we shall rise up… and proclaim what is ours,” he started to pace around Tayo’s body now, the light from the torches danced across their bodies and a glint of gold made itself known on the leader’s body depicting a strange looking head emblazoned with gold and dark red fibers, “for our dark lord… Giritina.”
The surrounding disciples all pumped their fists and howled as the sun set finally, shrouding the watery depths in darkness.
Team Halo, Outside the Watery Depths
“So… what’s the plan here?” York asked, crossing his small stubby arms and looking into the fog covered abyss. “I mean, we should enlist some more help, it wouldn’t hurt.”
“No,” the sea otter Pokémon scowled as he locked eyes with the officer, his purple eyes glaring into the lieutenant’s, “just us three… no more.”
Sara’s body shook as she looked at the area before her, not too long ago she had escorted possible the rudest mon she ever met into this area. But it was also when she had met a Seviper, who she now considered a friend. The Pikachu stood up straight, and clenched her paws into fists.
“Well, alright then, but I do have to say something.” York looked into the mist, “there have been reports of a mysterious gas cloud in the area, infecting anyone who goes near it. But it’s also your mission as rescuers to go in there, and find a way to get rid of it and find one of the missing people who went into the cloud a Teddiursa named Hecktor.”
“What do we know about him?” Aragorn asked.
“He apparently went into the watery depths seeking a staff of sorts, I don’t know much only what I heard from some of the other officers.” York explained, how could a staff be so important that he would go into the watery depths alone?
“Okay… here’s our mission.” Aragorn started turning around and facing the two Pokémon behind him, “First we find Tayo, he is our top priority regardless of anything else. The cloud is nothing, nor Hecktor. Tayo is our main objective.” He looked behind him, “two, after we find Tayo and make sure he’s alright we go find this Hecktor character, three we take out this cloud… then we go home.”
“What if we run into more of those mon from before?” the young Pikachu looked up into the sky for a bit before looking back to her brother, “the ones who were wearing cloaks.”
The Oshawott growled as he pulled off his Scalchop, and if to prove a point he conjured the blade and stabbed the earth leaving a large crack in it, “we crush them.”
Sara seemed to have no problem with this idea, as her bright red cheeks started to spark. Her eyes taking on a slight glow and determined look.
With the three ready to go, they began moving forward into the darkened mist. Attacks ready and eyes on the lookout for anything or anybody who might try to attack them.
Inside the Watery Depths
Aragorn felt strange being in this place, a feeling of darkness crept over him like a veil and his body felt rigid and his hands clammy, his gaze darted from the left to the right as a feeling of paranoia made itself known. Aragorn wondered what it was, “perhaps there is a dark force lurking in these depths.” The voice suggested, “these lands are older than the city, no telling what kind of ancient force dwell within this place.”
Aragorn for once heeded his words, something was not right in this place and it wasn’t the oddly intense thick fog either. He felt a great darkness in the water, he sensed it.
The Pikachu Sara and Pachirisu York felt it as well.
They moved with caution through the tall grass, beads of water falling off the grass with every slight movement. The team and officer didn’t bother shaking it off, for fear of startling some sleeping beast. York noted the sun was long gone, replaced by the faint outline of the moon which cast an eerie glow on the water they waded through.
The thick fog along with the tall grass made traveling through the dungeon very difficult, but that didn’t stop them.
“Who would kidnap Tayo?” was the only thought in water type’s mind at the moment, who would kidnap him. He was just a child after all, what could he possibly have that they would want?
“I see a clearing up ahead,” York announced from his position behind Aragorn, “I also see some lights.”
Aragorn broke his train of thought and gazed up ahead and he saw there were some lights, three. He gripped his Scalchop tight as he crouched slightly, “if there’s someone there, let’s take them by surprise.”
The two behind the Oshawott nodded and spread out, York going left and Sara going right. They moved through the grass carefully, and slowly closed in on the light source.
Aragorn saw someone lying on the grass, and in the distance he spotted something that looked like a purple mist. “That must be the mist could we’re supposed to take out,” he decided to step out into the open. When he walked over to the clearing he got a closer look at the body, it was a Teddiursa!
The Pikachu came out of the grass and dashed over to Aragorn as York scampered to them, “is this…” Sara started, looking the small bear Pokémon over.
“Uhhhhgh.” The Teddiursa groaned, his body shaking and quivering.
“Is this Hecktor?” Aragorn asked, kneeling down and checking him. He looked okay physically.
“Yes, that’s him.“ York said as he kneeled down and rolled him over, “he must be infected.” He deduced.
“Take him,” Aragorn ordered York, standing up as he felt a strange presence nearby, ”Sara, you go with him now.”
“Wh-why?” Sara questioned her brother, why did he suddenly want both of them to leave?
“Go now, don’t question it just go.”
York seemed to sense the presence as well, and he felt nothing but darkness as the mysterosity cloud closed in on them. “Sara, would you mind helping me with Hecktor?”
“But.-“ the Pikachu started, but Aragorn interrupted her.
“No buts, that cloud is getting closer and I want you two gone now. Don’t worry about me.”
Sara frowned and grabbed one of Hecktor’s arms, and with York’s help they lifted him up. Sara cast Aragor one last glance before walking back to the entrance, she didn’t like this. She didn’t want to leave him here to get infected, but something told her he’d be okay.
“Now why would you send them away?” The ghostly voice asked his water type host.
“You know damn well why, there’s something here…. something dark, and evil.” Aragorn told him, his scalchop’s blade shimmering under the moon’s light.
“It is about time you showed up,” someone said from inside the mist.
The team halo second in command scowled, he knew that voice but the name of the owner eluded him. Soon the mist surrounded him, and he suddenly felt somewhat woozy for a few seconds. He fought off the feeling and readied himself in case this mon were to attack him, “come out!”
“Is that anyway to treat a friend?” the voice chuckled, coming out into the open.
“Wesker.” Aragorn growled, he didn’t want to believe it was him but that snide voice, and the glowing purple eyes proved it to be true.
“Hello Aragorn,” he greeted, his eyes glowing from underneath his hood, “it’s been a long while since I’ve seen you.”
“What are you doing here?” Aragorn questioned him as the cloud started to become thicker, visibility was starting to diminish.
“You will learn in time my young friend,” the cloaked mon told him, he then raised the staff and pointed at Aragorn, “for now I think we should finish what we started all those years ago.”
Aragorn growled as his eyes started to glow, the ghostly presence within his body taking control him, “gladly!” the Oshawott growled, rushing forward with his Scalchop blade.
Wesker smirked as he sidestepped the small water type, and followed up with a twirl of his staff to Aragorn’s back.
Aragorn fell to the ground but quickly shot back up, he slashed multiple times at Wesker, each time he missed cause of the latter dodging with ease. He shot a water gun to retaliate before tackling, his arms outstretched as he leapt at Wesker and causing the two to topple and fall to the ground.
Wesker growled as he kicked him off, “he’s gotten stronger.” He remarked, he has gotten stronger since the last time they met and battled.
The two battled on, trading blow after blow and causing some major injuries. Both started to get winded from the fight, but neither was about to let up anytime soon. They kept attacking one another, blood flying and the ground being decorated in slash marks.
Soon the two were at a standstill, both covered in blood and bruises and slash marks. Wesker’s cloak was badly damaged, showing a little of what species he could be, Blue fur and dark blue feet. “You done yet?” he asked the Pokémon in front of him.
Aragorn spat blood on to the ground, a big glob spattering the dirt as he glared back at Wesker, “not even slightly.” He smirked before dashing at the clocked mon, he jumped up into the air and as his blade changed color from bleu to red he slashed downward at Wesker.
He had no time to block and was hit in the head, forcing the staff out of his hand and onto the ground. As he fell back his hood fell off showing his face, Bright Purple eyes stared back. Aragorn saw the evolved form of his species, a Dewott.
“It would seem I’ve been bested,” Wesker chuckled, trying and failing to stand, “dear brother.”
Aragorn held his blade at the Dewott’s throat as his eyes took on a red hue, “do not call me that scum.”
“Kill him now,” the voice told him, “kill him now or suffer the consequences later.”
Aragorn contemplated that action, but shook his head he was no killer like Wesker. The cloud of mysterosity soon started to grow too thick, and Wesker took advantage of this to escape. Kicking at Aragorn’s feet and making him fall, the Oshawott was too slow to get up, and when he did the Dewott was gone. He cursed, “Damn it!”
“I told you to kill hi-”
“SHUT UP!” Aragorn screamed, punching the ground with all his might and leaving a small hole, “shut up… please.” he begged as he felt his eyes water.
“…” the voice did not respond.
Aragorn shook his head and wiped at his eyes as he looked at the staff, he grabbed it and upon further inspection he saw it to be the staff York described. He was about to go look for Tayo when the staff’s tip started to glow, ”ah!” he dropped it as the tip exploded in a flash of light that emitted a massive amount of heat. He covered his eyes as the heat washed over him like a wave, when it was over he looked and saw the cloud was gone, and some small glowing lights fell down to the ground before dissipating, almost like snowflakes.
He looked around, and when he saw Tayo’s form he rushed over and fell to his side, “Tayo!” he exclaimed, he shook the snake’s form lightly, “Tayo! Wake up!”
Tayo twitched and opened his eyes, he looked scared out of his mind but the sight of the water type caused his to sob slightly, “Aragorn!” he cried, wrapping around his friend and the one who took him in.
Aragorn was getting crushed but he let Tayo have this, he’s been through too much right now. After the ‘hug’ Tayo asked, “W-w-w-what happened?”
“You were kidnapped,” Aragorn told him, “but you’re safe now.” He told him, giving him a smile.
Tayo smiled as well as he looked around, “where’s Sara?”
“She’s back at the entrance to this place,” he said as he got up, “come on, let’s go home buddy.”
Tayo nodded, and the two left, Aragorn grabbed the staff before leaving however. As they exited the maze and found York and Sara waiting, the Pikachu embraced the Seviper with a smile. York was happy the team was reunited, and after getting some answers from Aragorn, (most of which were lies) he escorted the team back to the city.
“One more mission in the bag,” Aragorn remarked as he lay in his bed, “god this day has been hectic.”
“It’s only going to get worse from here on out, Aragorn.” the voice told him.
“I know… I know.”
“What now?”
“Rest… lots of rest.” Aragorn said as he turned to lay on his side, his eyes looking over to the sleeping form of his sister, then he decided to ask, “do you have a name?”
“…” the voice didn’t respond. Aragorn sighed, so much for talking. He drifted off as he heard, “my name… is Kakashi.”
