As summer approaches I hold my breath in the hopes that we welcome new babies to the Southern Resident Killer Whale community. I also take a moment to remember those who are no longer with us. Ruffles (J1) and Speiden (J8), our waters are not the same without your presence. You are missed, you are remembered.Related content

Your photos of and tributes to the local killer whales of the west coast are absolutely amazing. I love not only your art and the thought behind each piece, but also the titles you give to them. It is encouraging to know each and every one of these animals is loved, their travels followed and their lives mourned when they pass. Truly stunning
