Hahah sort-of. Kaskade actually. Their album "fire and ice" and the song "lessons in love"

neon trees also have a version of lessons in love on their album Picture Show. From fire&ice it's just Tyler singing.

Aw, that's so nice of you to say! This was kind-of a "stream of conciousness," where I just drew based on the song that was playing...

Did you use to practice drawing hands or did it come naturally?

uhm...my "practice" consists of me drawing something new-ish, surrounded by stuff I already know how to do...so if you wanna look at it through my eyes, ALL of my pictures are practice, and in each one I can tell you what I was practicing in the picture...

You asked my journal for a critique so here goes!
Just one thing before I start though, and that is to keep in mind that a critique is an opinion, and that I'm critiquing the artwork, not you as a person, so if we both relax, all will be fine and well.
Firstly, I really like this drawing. I like the colourful background, as well as the meticulous shading that you used here as well. I like the way that you define his form and you did it quite well, particularly with the neck and face. So with the colours, I find little fault.
This is a hand and marker study, yes? I think you did quite well, although the pinky on his right hand is missing the knuckle that's behind it, so it looks like the finger is awkwardly growing out of nowhere.
His ears may be a bit too low though, as it looks like the bottom of it is in line with the mouth, when it is usually in line with the nose if heβs looking parallel to the ground, unless heβs looking upwards, which heβs not in this drawing. If thatβs a headphone though, then it may be hanging a bit too low to fit comfortably, itβs practically halfway of his ear there.
The body. In my opinion, the shoulders may be a tad to broad on his right, or maybe it's just me. Also, the chest seems a bit flat. I know men don't have the assets that women have, but this seems to happen consistently to drawings of men with a plain shirt. Maybe use shading to imply the shape of the pectorals a bit, but not too much, they are quite flat things. Or, find where the folds of a shirt would be and draw them, as the shirt seems to have no folds at all.
Also, his left arm. It seems really slick like a surfboard, and I think it may be because of the line that runs down the middle of it. If you were trying to imply the bone, then maybe it should be a bit thicker at the elbows. To be honest though, I have problems with arms and elbows myself, so I'm not sure this is the most credible advice here.
To be honest though, I can't critique anything else, as I donβt find too much problem here. I just really like this absolutely awesome drawing. There's not much else to say really. Everything else seems just fine.
Cheers!

0.o so long! I broke it up into paragraphs like you did, I hope you dont mind...
Yeah I get it.
Why thank you! The colors were inspired by the album cover of the song I was listening to.
Hmmm, you see I have little definition there on my own hand, so it was hard to tell from that angle whether or not to put it there.
Yes that's the head phone. When I first read this part I was like, "...Wait, I drew ears???" the head phone is not meant to be on his ear, but at an angle like this / , as he is holding the other part higher up in his hand. It's like those head phones that you are supposed to wear the band on top of your head, but people still insist on wearing it on the back, so naturally it's falling off.
Hmm, yeah I guess. I changed his shoulder multiple times when I was sketching it. And yeah, I tried to put more definition, but as I am not quite aquainted with my markers yet, it was a bit of a pain with definition and wrinkles. This is only my 10th time or so using them AT ALL.
And yeeeaaaahhh...arms annoy me....and elbows....joints in general, and looking back at the picture, I really do need to fix that, but as it is traditional, I'm going to leave it...
Awwww, how sweet.
You too
