Description My first ever oil painting, done from life in the "alla prima" method which basicly means wet into wet. Altough I rather treat it as a "succesful failure" . Why you might ask? well I've learned a lot while painting this, mostly what NOT to do ^^' I had a lot of trouble with this one and after doing some  internet reseaarch I've  found what caused the problem. To be excact the paint did not want to stick well to the surface, surface is  a heavy cardboard which was primed with 3 coats of gesso. BUT! yeah ,but I did a vermillion acrylic underpainting then did a pencil drawing and to make things worse sprayed it with fixative spray, all that in combination provided me with a surface SO smooth that I would rather take away the oil paint rather than lay it down with each stroke. I couldn't even cover my pencil lines! Imagine that!  Fortunately I was able to salvage  some of it by adding more titanium white to my mixes which is super opaque and it helped  a lot.It looks far from what I wanted it to look like, but  all in all this was quite fun to do despite all the frustration involved , another lesson learned the hard way ^^'

All of my tubes are Schmincke Norma artist quality which is a wonderful, rich in colour paint, plus one tube of Rembrandt Zinc White and Daler Rowney artist line French Ultramarine.

I've used Winsor&Newton's Liquin as my medium.

On to the next one!

P.S It's actually less orange in the whites, I need to take another picture in a more neutral lighting

Thank you, Zoppy.
I shared my experience for anyone trying out oils their first time as well to be aware of what is going to cause trouble. You know what they say, we learn on our own mistakes. However it's better to learn on the mistakes of others ^^

cheers.
