We wish those hyenas Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed appeared to team up with Zira and the Outsiders.

Great piece! And while I do like the first movie better, I absolutely, gushingly love TLK2. Its a shame that Hanz Zimmer couldn't reprise his score for the second one, since that is one of my favorite elements of the first one, but the score was good. And the animation is still very good for a direct to DVD sequel. The relationship between Kovu and Kiara, while nowhere near perfect or developed enough, was still more developed than Nala and Simba I think. Also Zira is super underrated as a villian. So even with the whole "Kimba controversy" thing with the first one, I still prefer it, but TLK2 was a worthy follow up for what it was.

Thank you!
Yeah, I think that a lot of people who criticise the movie for being less 'refined' than the first one forget that it was a sequel, therefore, lower budget. Still, they did their best with it.
And I agree about Kiara and Kovu vs. Simba and Nala. The movie shows quite clearly why Kiara and Kovu were drawn to each other, that only with each other they could be themselves rather than what they were told they were "supposed" to be.

The way this is framed its as if both sides are really angry at Rafiki for some reason haha!
(I personally don't like the second movie, but I love this artwork!)

Damn, I feel old, lol.
Still love that movie and always will.
You've done a great job with the details.
As for the movie itself, the only thing I'm disappointed about, that Kiara's childhood was short, not enough screentime since I love her more as a cub than her older self.
As for The Lion King franchise, I actually like the first one as much as the sequel, but the 3rd movie was a huge let-down since I've wanted to see more of Kiara's childhood or a spin-off of Kiara and Kovu instead of the Timon and Pumbaa series.

No prob.
Then it shouldn't be called Lion King 3 when it has nothing to do with the lions.

Your artwork is on point as usual, but I'd like to go into greater detail of what makes your artwork here so much more intriguing and interesting to me. The expressions of everyone here are astounding and it blows me away of how you managed to capture the overall emotion the characters have throughout the entire film. Simba, Nala, Zira, and Zazu all hold looks of anger and resentment towards one another, while for the cubs and Nuka it's a different story. Kiara looks at her father with a rebellious, determined, yet also unsure expression, Vitani holds her mother's anger, Kovu seems shocked that he is being pulled into all this, and with Nuka, man oh man, from his sad expression to the bags under his eyes, it illustrates perfectly the pain eh feels to be in this place, suffering, desperately trying to achieve his mother's attention and affection, when ti is ultimately a pointless and fruitless endeavor. In addition, I do really like your addition of Rafiki as the peacemaker in the middle, trying to get who is supposed to be the good guys here to see reason.
I also would like to take a moment to discuss your, well, discussion down below. I do agree with how this film walked away from the black and white conflict, as neither side is completely good or evil. Sure, the Outlanders did try to take over the Pridelands and destroy the Pridelanders, yet they were only doing so because they did not realize that there was another way to get out of the current situation they were in, and that their leader was indeed leading them down a path with little to no regard for their well being. Simba and the Pridelanders may have been right in terms of how they were maintaining the Circle of Life and by setting rules in order to keep those inside the Pridelands, especially Kiara, safe. Yet that doesn't excuse the fact that they technically did exile cubs into a barren, unforgiving wasteland.
Overall, congratulation on who you managed to capture the very essence of the film into this picture. I adore the film for the same reasons you and I'm glad we can both enjoy it, while still having our own reasons of looking at it.

I can't believe this movie is 20 years old now. Seems like it was only yesterday when I got the VHS tape for Christmas.

“the second movie's storyline seemed more interesting and fuller of different events and character developments”
Yes, yes! That’s exactly what I like about this movie, it’s very entertaining and dynamic, but also gives some food for thought.
When I first watched the second movie as a kid, I practically watched it as a standalone, because I had only vague memories of watching the first movie when I was a very small child. And it still worked for me as a standalone, while the first movie quite disappointed me when I rewatched it. It was good, but… not as good as people usually say. I felt the middle part of the movie was kind of lackluster after a good start
Yeah, the romance thing. Even though Simba and Nala probably developed that connection in more than a few days, we don’t really know what that connection was based on, other than that they were friends as kids. With Kiara and Kovu, even though their developing feelings for each other happened in a rather compressed timeframe (a few days, probably), we at least can tell what had drawn them to each other so much. Not only had they associated each other with good experiences they got when they first met (they had both met someone who was interested in them for who they were, not their mission/destiny or anything), they also had these experiences reinforced as adults. (That’s also why Kiara snapped at Simba so badly when he suggested that Kovu was only using her because she was his daughter. “He loves me for me!”)

This is true… They make a nice couple, but we don’t really see how their relationship developed into romance.
Yes, it’s amazing that despite their parents trying to instill the prejudice in them, Kiara and Kovu managed to break free of that mindset and see each other as individuals. I think that’s exactly why Kovu switched sides so easily, Kiara was the pretty much the first one in his life who saw him as an individual as opposed to a tool in someone else’s hands (his mother’s/destiny’s/ideology’s, etc.)

I love both TLK movies equally but the 2nd definitely takes the win for me when concerning the soundtrack.

Thank you so much!
Yeah, I personally can't understand why the colors are so much of a problem. If the movie is engaging and entertaining, the colors are probably the last thing I will think about xD By the way, some of the color changes could be explained simply by characters aging, like Simba's darker coloration. I also like the character designs for the new characters from the movie, they are quite unique.

Your welcome!
Lol exactly! Like, I find nothing wrong with the colors. Actually, I never thought about how Simba looks very different, I am just too focused on the movie. XD
Idk WHY people hate sequels so much! I mean, TLK 2 was so amazing, maybe because of those nice songs and awesome characters X3

The hatred for all sequels ever is probably just snobbism xD I mean, I’ve legit seen people call other fans idiots and other unflattering things for preferring the sequel to the original.
