ahh, reminds me of what my sister and I were doing today; just hanging out in Millennium Park...getting soaked by Buckingham Fountain...
it was quite like this, sans the pretty dress and the charming rustic scene behind us.

The pattern on the bodice you mean? I used watercolour pencils, which allow for more detailing than regular watercolours I find. I just draw the yellow bits, then put water on it with a tiny paintbrush, then I do the blue and the same with the water. Then I take some white acrylic paints to highlight the whiter areas.
I would love to just go hang out in the botanical garden right next to my place in a dress like this. *swoon*

yeah! I need to get my paws on some watercolor pencils. I have regular watercolors but you're right with the detail thing.

Watercolour pencils for the win! ha ha they are truly amazing. I got my first set for my b-day when I was 12. I swear by them.
I will have to go get pictures in that garden and show everyone...
