A Gentle Hand

It had been nearly two weeks after the wild vasteuro had arrived and after a few failed attempts at a halter they finally got it… this morning, a Friday, freshly nearing the end of week.
….
Marcus had headed back to the city the night before to sleep in his apartment. The next morning Marcus had woken up and ate breakfast, he had scrolled through everything on his phone looking up more hairstyles he could use on Peanut before he had to leave to go back to the barn to see the new member of Frost Woods Ranch.
He had driven over there and he got out of his car to find Milo trying to lead around this horse, he figured calling him horse was pointless so he carelessly decided to call him Pirate after the tear in his ear as a nickname , he had never expected the name to stick though. He took off his jacket as it was particularly hot this morning, it was getting closer and closer to summer after all.
He walked over to the frightened Pirate and Milo who was clearly trying his best to lead him around, “Hey! You’re doing it wrong!!” Marcus headed into the pasture taking the lead rope from Milo.
Milo didn’t say anything, his ears just pinned back unsure of what to make of the situation, he was walking fine earlier he just spooked at a loud noise. He let go of the the lead and let Marcus take it.
Pirate looked confused as he stopped in his tracks and put his head up and his ears pinned forward in curiosity.
Marcus grabbed onto the lead and gently calmed him down by slowly petting his shoulder and humming a random tune he had heard in the car that morning, whatever it was seemed to work as Pirate relaxed his posture and rested his head, his once frightened eyes visibly calmed at ease. *Did this horse like music?*, Marcus thought to himself, he laughed at himself in the thought as he slowly started to lead him around, he wasn’t having any issues now.
Milo observed and took mental notes about how to calm this horse down, he clearly cared a lot about this project and he started to care more and more about Pirate. He wasn’t going to let this horse go, he may have been a simple project horse to Marcus that he never intended to keep but in Milo’s eyes he knew he couldn’t let this horse go.
