I guess people often forget about Thranduil in LOTR, especially since he's not in the movies... But yeah. He's right there. And his son is probably on one of the most dangerous quests ever.Β

I totally believe Thranduil loves his son deeply, it's just that he doesn't know how to show it a lot because after his wife's death he shut down. And I think Legolas loves his father too, he hasn't said anything bad about him but wishes they could be closer. This pic has hit me straight in the feels, I know in that last scene with Legolas in BotFA, Thranduil was looking through the corpses and praying one wasn't his son, and the relief in his eyes seeing Legolas alive.

Where did you read that? In book canon Gimli and Legolas did sail to Valinor but only after Aragorn's dead. That's a long time after Elrond and co sailed.

I really wish we'd seen more of their relationship in the movie. The love triangle issue is so overdone in movies, I miss a good parent/child overcoming being at odds and simply being content with the love they have for one another. I'll have to throw this into the head cannon of things I hope happened at the end of the War of the Ring. Beautiful depiction!

These are one of those artwork where in after watching the entire trilogy, you just wanna grab a pen and write your heart out but you just can't find the right words because the picture is so goddamn awesome, it'd be a shame to soil it with amateur skills ;-;
