Description Chapter Two, Bloodless Bodies:

McGee stepped out of the elevator and walked into the bullpen. “Agent DiNozzo?” He asked.

“Ah Probie, we thought they’d stuffed you and mounted you on Abby’s wall.” Tony laughed.

McGee chuckled slightly. “Funny sir. Agent Gibbs said to listen to your orders until he gets back from the director’s.”

“Ah he did, did he?” There was that devious smile again. “Well Probie, since you’re in my custody until Gibbs gets back, you might wanna take a seat and get out your palm pilot.”

Tim did as he was told until he saw the Israeli woman at the cubicle across from Tony’s. “Who’s she, sir?” He asked.

“Mossad officer/Temporary NCIS agent Ziva David. She’s your superior officer so listen to her like you listen to me: very carefully.” He advised. “Rule #2: never get Ziva angry. Got that?”

“What’s rule #1?” Tim asked.

“Never let Gibbs go without his coffee. That’s rule #1, Probie.”  Tony stated, no humor in his voice.
Tim nodded, the gray haired agent had seemed tense even with the caffeine riddled drink in his hand.

“I thought rule #1 was never let suspects stay together.” Ziva wondered out loud. “And rule #2 is always wear gloves at a crime scene. Who’s rules are you telling him?” She raised a dark eyebrow.

“Ziva, those are Gibbs’ rules. These are mine. Quite the difference. I‘ll fill him in on the others, mainly Gibbs‘, later.”

“What brings you to NCIS, Agent McGee?” Ziva asked, moving from her side of the bullpen to stand beside Tony.

“Well, FBI seemed a little intense and I was told they need extra help at NCIS. I also wanted to help the Navy without actually-”

“NCIS does not stand for Naval criminal investigative services, Probie. Got that?” Tony interrupted.

“Then what does it stand for?” McGee asked. It was really starting to bother him, how no one would answer that one question. Not to mention the looks Agent Gibbs kept throwing the members of his team that said to keep quiet around him.

“NCIS, Probie, stands for-”

“DiNozzo, gas the van. Ziva and McGee, follow me.” Gibbs said as he entered the bullpen.

“What is it, boss?” Tony asked.

“We got to bodies in Norfolk. Ziva, call Ducky.” He said. The Mossad officer was on the phone as Tony moved to walk out. McGee could see a moment’s contemplation on Gibbs face before he turned to DiNozzo. “Take McGee with you,” He called and cocked his head at McGee to tell him to follow orders. Quickly, McGee moved to Tony’s side and they headed off to get the van.

-

The bodies were strewn slightly apart from one another, both still fully clothed. One wore a polo shirt and jeans, the other was dressed in gothic attire. Unnaturally pale, almost white skin that looked dry and worn. McGee felt a lump grow in his throat and had to take a deep breath to rid himself of the wave of nausea that had over come him.

“Two bodies, both female, blood drained from both corpses. DiNozzo, sketch the scene. Ziva, pictures.” Gibbs barked as Ducky approached the bodies flanked by Palmer.

“Lets see what you young ladies have to say,” The older man said, kneeling by the first girl. He placed his head close to the ground and McGee watched in curiosity as he nodded and spoke to the body.

“Tony, does he always do that?” He asked, stepping over to DiNozzo.

“Who, Ducky? Yeah, it’s just his way. We’re all a little eccentric, Probie.” He replied as they both watched the M.E rise off the ground.

“We’ll know more when we get them home.” He said, turning to Gibbs. “Mr. Palmer, if you will-” He hadn’t gotten to finish his sentence. Palmer knelt by the bodies, preparing to put them on the stretcher, when his body had gone rigid and sweat had begun pouring down his face.

“Sir,” He gasped and then dropped onto the grass. Immediately, Gibbs, Ducky and Ziva were by his side. McGee had moved to help but Tony held him back.

“Let them handle it. We’ll meet ‘em back at headquarters.” He said, ushering McGee towards the van.

“But Palmer sir, he just collapsed. Shouldn’t we-”

“They have it under control Probie, lets go.” DiNozzo said sternly. Tim nodded and followed Tony to the van.

-

Back at NCIS, McGee couldn’t get the scene out of his head. The unnaturally white bodies, Palmer all stiff and rigid, everyone rushing to his side and DiNozzo just leading him away. Why? Did they believe him incapable of helping anyone because he was a probationary agent? Or was there some sort of secret here at NCIS that they were keeping hidden?

“Sir?” He asked, looking across the bullpen to DiNozzo.

“Yeah Probie?”

“What does NCIS stand for? What happened to Palmer back at the crime scene? And why won’t Agent Gibbs let any of you tell me what’s going on?” He asked, the flurry of questions pouring out.

DiNozzo sighed and ran a hand through his brown hair. “Probie, remember when the Fay came out and suddenly all manner of creatures shared the planet with us?” McGee nodded.
“NCIS stands for Non-human Criminal Investigative Services. We look into cases that the FBI can’t handle; the vampires, the werewolves, all the monsters in the closet. We investigate those cases, arrest the monsters and defend the innocent ones. That’s what NCIS stands for. Sometimes we need special people on the cases. Palmer, for instance, gets visions. He’s pre-cognitive and that helps us. Tells us who’s gonna get hurt and who’s gonna be okay.”

“So he’s a mutant?” McGee asked with uncertainty. He had never met a mutant, only seen them on the news protesting or attacking people. As far as he was concerned, if mutants didn’t bother him he wouldn’t bother them. Not to say that he wanted to meet one; from what he had heard, they were extremely dangerous.

“No no, pre-cogs are a whole different ballpark than mutants. Anyway, Agent Gibbs didn’t want you to know until he felt you were ready. Most humans don’t cope well with the Fay or any of their counterparts.” He finished. “So, you still in?” Tony smiled and held out a hand. McGee looked at it; if he took this job, it might change his whole perspective on the Fay and their world. He might even begin to understand them But if he left, it might mark him a coward.
Of course, staying might have its consequences. Agents must get hurt from time to time due to these creatures and even die in the field. Why else would they need new Probies?

Tim took a breath and made up his mind. “I’ll stay.” He said and shook Tony’s hand.

“Good to know, Probie.” He laughed and tilted back in his chair as Ziva and Gibbs exited the elevator.

“DiNozzo, quit screwing around.” Gibbs snapped and slapped the back of his head, making Tony fall out of his chair.

“Gotcha Boss,” Tony nodded.
Gibbs glared at him then turned back around and headed for his desk.

“What’d Palmer see, sir?” He asked. Gibbs turned around and gave Tony a death glare. “I told McGee.” He admitted.

“You told McGee?” He asked angrily. The younger agent winced slightly.

“Only the finer points, boss.” Tony explained. McGee spun to glare at him. Finer points? he mouthed. Tony shrugged.

“Palmer says our perp’s got dark hair and only goes after women." Gibbs reported.

“Then who’re we gonna use as bait?” Tony asked.

“Bait?” McGee asked, eyes wide.

“Yeah Probie, a vampire that attacks only women? Gonna need bait.” He stated.

“Who said it was a vampire, DiNozzo?” Gibbs snapped.

“Bloodless Bodies tends to point to vampire, boss.” He pointed out.

“Actually, the Dorgth demon tends to drain the blood of their victims.” Ziva stated. “They feed it to their young.”

“Charming, Zee-vah. Is that how you get a date on Friday nights? Giving people facts on demons.” Tony swiveled his chair around and smiled at her. Her eyes narrowed and she looked pissed, but he didn’t seem to care.

“Get me a list of local vampires, DiNozzo. Ziva, I need a list of demons that drain blood. McGee,” Gibbs spun to face the round faced Probie. “Go down to Ducky, see if he found anything yet. Then go see if Abby’s identified any prints on our bodies.”

“On it, Boss.” The three agents said in unison.

-

“Ducky?” McGee called meekly. The steely walls of autopsy bothered him and he wanted to be out of here as fast as possible.

“Ah Timothy, what brings you down here?” The M.E asked, stepping into the room, Jimmy not far behind him.

“Gibbs wants to know what you found out about the girls, sir.” He replied. Ducky nodded and motioned for him and Palmer to step around beside the slabs that held the bodies.

“The girl on the right is Michelle Andrews and the young lady on the left is Gina Wells, although Ms. Wells prefers to go by her nickname Poison. They were both students who lived locally when they were attacked. Andrews claims the man attacked her but Ms. Wells insists he lured her there, promising to make her like him.” Ducky explained.

“How do you know this?” McGee asked.

“Dr. Mallard can speak to the dead and the dead speak to Dr. Mallard. They can only tell him a little bit but it’s always enough.” Palmer interrupted.

McGee stared wide eyed at the elderly M.E and his assistant. A doctor that the dead spoke to and an assistant that was pre-cognitive. This day just got better and better. “What else did they say, Ducky?”

“He attacked Ms. Andrews first, allowing Ms. Wells to watch. I suppose he was giving her a choice on whether she stilled wanted to be apart of this. Then he turned on Ms. Wells and-” He nodded to the body. “We have the results here.”

“He didn’t make her a vampire?” McGee asked. He wondered what Agent Gibbs would say if he knew there was a Vampiric body in Autopsy.

“When a vampire offers to make you one of their own, Timothy, never trust them. You will end up in the morgue.” Ducky stated. “Now I believe Abby may have something for you.”
McGee nodded and walked out. Jimmy sighed and raised a hand to rub his temple.

“Jimmy, my boy, something wrong?” Ducky asked in a worried voice.

“Just another vision, Doctor Mallard. Nothing to be worried about, it’s not as bad as earlier.” He said, straining a smile. Ducky nodded and turned away to continue examining the bodies. Jimmy ran a hand though his dark hair and sighed again, softer this time. He couldn’t bring himself to tell Dr. Mallard that he had just witnessed his own death.

Thanks again. This was a really hard chapter to write for A) because I'm trying not to reveal everyone's 'weirdness' right off the bat (Where's the fun in that)
And B) Ducky's 'weirdness' was hard to settle on. Then my boyfriend reminded me that he always talks to the bodies when he's doing the autopsies and that Kate once said "One day, Ducky, one of them is going to talk bacck.". I believe the episode was "Lt. Jane Doe." in season 2.

Please forgive me for refering to it as 'The Weirdness'. My sister coined the phrase, as not everyone is supernatural but they're all weird (Except poor McGee!)

In 'Lt. Jane Doe', didn't the body ACTUALLY talk back? Just once, right after Ducky found out she was a Jane Doe?

I can see why it would be hard . and I think Ducky's ability is a good one for him because he really it always talking to the dead bodies

Yeah, also the last name of our current villian (Thompson) is my boyfriend's last name. It's not a homage to him, rather a guy I knew in high school. I just needed a last name and he suggested his own.
What a sweetie!
