I haven't drawn anything DA worthy in a little while. I doodled this earlier and liked how it turned out, so i thought I'd share with you guys.Anyway, this is Spirit. I absolutely adore this movie. And it's one of the main influences and inspirations for how i learnt to draw my own Horse OC's.
This is also based on the 2002 movie, from my childhood, and not the new CGI series on Netflix, of which I'm not a fan. I did try to watch it, but it's more based around a girl for some reason. Not my cup of tea.
Basic sketch onto paper. Colored using Faber Castell colored pencils, white Sakura Gelly Roll and black fine-liner. Roughly 2 hours work.

I love the fact this movie has a a scene with the horse doing the Grieving Hero pose that's famous in films and graphic novels.

Spirit never bowed down to his opressors. He always battled to protect those he loved. He faced the wrath of the Wild West and rose victorious.
Some people can't help but wonder where does this stallion draws the strength of will that allows him to prevail against all the odds. Is it his untamable desire for freedom? The well-being of his family? The support of his friends? Some may assume as much.
But the truth lies elsewhere, hidden in plain sight, revealed only in enlightened works such as this one. Behold, for this horse owes everything he has every achieved to one singular way of life:
