and a little guestion about the damasc, how do you get the colour differences? high grade and low grade steel?

Yes. One steel haves lots of carbon in it and another just little.

Carbon steel 0,8% and pure iron for example.

Punched yes. I wet leather and only tool i use then is knitting needle
