Description Miscellaneous Sketch Dump - 2 - System Squish

System Squish.  They're just robots, Morty!  All working towards the same goal: to bring squishy expansion and other shenanigans to the world!  And I respect them.

That one line from Rick and Morty came to my head when thinking of a title, and then System Shock popped up.  And then...System Squish.  O_O

But more to the point.  For the past week, I had been wanting to draw some artists I know.  Specifically, drawing THEM, from a picture they had drawn, trying to mimic their respective style.  There was one exception, as he has never drawn himself before.  While he does have a sphinx OC...I decided I didn't want main OCs...I wanted the artist THEMSELF!

After the few few portraits, I decided to focus on a collection of artists who focus on expansion, transformations, and all sorts of other stuff~

I was going to provide a critique on what I thought of each of their styles as I drew them.  But in the end, it sort of just felt like I was just drawing each artist in their own design.  Thus, I'll just simply list out whose all here.  I wanted to fit nine in, but could only think of eight.

(Spliced others' depictions of him as "Stream Dad" and his avatar, thus this isn't really a picture drawn by him in his own style)

(Roughly spliced the eyes of his "usual" form into his "normal-looking" executive form)

And as you might notice, they all have a common theme going on.  One which I decided to try drawing (or not drawing) out.  Just because...ya know...to be different.  And see how they, and others, react.

We all have a common theme? We're all shirtless? o_O;
No, in all seriousness, I never really noticed the similarities before but I can totally see it now!

And I can see exactly which pic you used for me/Chuck. Awesome awesome stuff!

Ha ha!  Eeyep!  ;D
It's really quite interesting what you discover when trying to replicate several artists' styles on the same page~

Thank you!  There wasn't too many pictures of you that I could recall at the top of my head, but I DID know about your ID picture~  ^^

I've noticed that on the jawlines of the girls- you've got this sort of "straight line" that's part of your style. I'd have to hunt-down the pics to see if they're on the inspiration pics too though.

But- I do agree- there is evidence of all the base styles in there! Which can be great practice ^w^

I can't remember off the top of my head but I do recall some of the lines curving inward a bit.  It was something I noticed in yours and others pics, so I did my best to try and replicate that here.  Perhaps I didn't pull it off right, and they ended up looking too straight, instead of having some curve either to demonstrate the relative roundiness of the head, or the distinctiveness of the jaw compared to the rest of the head.

That was one of the reasons why I wanted to try this exercise out~  Try out others' styles to see how they go about their drawings, and see what I take home from that.  ^_^

Everyone does it from time to time, and there is a chance the ones you chose to use as inspiration/reference actually *were* all examples of that jaw-line straightening! XD

Trying other styles, being able to do them, is a valuable skill. At this stage, you recreated the feel of the different styles, though it all has your artistic "fingerprint" so I like ^w^

Wow, all the styles are easily recognisable. Good job

Thank you!  ^^  I did my best to try and replicate them regarding the lineart, forms, style of eyes, and the hair, to name a few.  And while at the time it felt like I was just drawing each character in their own way, I look back at this, and I can really see just how unique each style is.

You're welcome, Lilly~  ^_^

It took a while to find one of Lillymoo that showed most of her face (eyes open too) with a good amount of detail, as well as up-to-date.  I eventually found the FLU/MOO Shot one, which worked well~

I have to say though, I took a bit longer on each sketch than intended.  They were supposed to be quicker sketches to see how much I could get done in a short amount of time.  Instead, I ended up spending a good 15+ minutes on each one, trying to get the details and proportions just right.  >w<  Still, it was lots of fun.

Hehe you are a perfectionist! But look how it pays off!

Good lord! Riddle's eyes are staring into the vast void that is my soul! D8>

XD Thanks!

Ha ha!  Yeah, combining "Stream-Dad" with his avatar might have been a strange decision, but a fun one regardless.  You better be careful...if he stares into it too long, that void might start to...fill up, and be a void no longer.

You're welcome!  ^^  It was neat trying out your style, as I had been looking into it for a while now.  I also don't get enough sideview practice, so yours and Chuck's were nice treat for that~

I don't get enough side view practice! I always cringe after sketching the face.

Awww, thank you!  ^_^

Just trying out other styles to see how they work compared to what I've done, and see how they relate and differ from one another.  All part of trying to better myself as an artist~  And paying small homage to other artists at the same time.  X3

Thanks!  ^^  It was a fun exercise.  I think if I drew out each character in full body, I might have noticed the different styles a bit more.  It might be because I'm still developing my own style, I can somewhat "easily" bend to everyone else's, so it didn't feel too clunky trying them out.

Now, to draw an entirely new picture in those styles would be an excellent challenge.  Drawing portraits is a fun step, due to faces being so recognizable.  But to imitate the style for a whole body will be something else~
