Yougottabekiddinme? Really? Dr. Bong? YOU'RE SURE THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT KID? Well, OK then...

One of my fan-friends has taken it upon himself to 'challenge' me in his sketch requests at shows. It all started with a Mad Dog I did for him at last year's Emerald City Comicon. Since then, he's had me do the Alf-ula and Razorback sketches, and this last weekend at a small Seattle WA show he had me do this one - Dr. Bong.

Ah, don't you just love it? What blows me away is that someone actually took the time to think up a character like this!

Anyway, the challenge was on - and after a couple of sincere 'gufaws' and flashing the reference material to surrounding friends and fans as well as said fan-friend, it was pencil to paper time.

First thought was, I had to give this ridiculous character a cool pose, and the one here hit me almost immediately - the 'I'm-a really gonna pummel ya'll with this here BONG hand - so LOOKOUT!'

I kept the line work forceful and strong (he actually is pretty buff) and tried to give him some weight so that the onlooker may fear his power. To add to the hypnotic mystification of the Dr.'s potency, we had to lay down some cool Simonson-inspired energy waves pulsating off the sphere of fury for all to fear!!!!! HAAAHAHAHaaa!!!

OK, so with this one out of the way, we've all gone to our respective corners to re-group and re-fuel for the next challenge, whatever that may be. And my calendar says my next show is in November, so we all have plenty of time reflect and anticipate the next encounter with some sure-fire epidomy of ridiculousness and disbelief.

'Till then, my days will be filled with more serious ambitions.
