Description I have been away for a while and wanted to share some new pieces and new photography I had done. I'll begin with my Mountain Lion. Half scale, about 4 feet long. Bronze.

I love ALL of your sculptures...no way to pick a favorite...but since I love Mountain Lions,
I'll say that this one is my *top* favorite!!

Lol Thank you Rhonda! I am back on DeviantArt after a 6 month dry spell. I love the Chavant clay by the way, so smooth and consistent. A tad more expensive but well worth it. The medium hardness is a little harder than the JMAC firm, which is awesome. If you ever have a project requiring oil clay, Chavant is nice.

So glad that you're back! (I understand about those "dry spells.")

Wonderful! I was curious how you thought the two compared, since I have decided to actually try sculpting something small that I can have bronzed. I want to get good quality clay and really take my time with the sculpt and get it "bronze worthy." (Which might take me much trial and error.)  Working with polymer clay has been very good training, but I feel it's time for me to stretch myself and attempt the "impossible." I want to give it a try...even if I fail.

Is the Chavant clay overly tacky/sticky? I think I'll order a sample case of clay from Chavant and see how each type feels and works up. I may also get a bit of JMAC, just to see what it's like, too. (Polymer clay is all I've ever used.)

Thank you for answering all of my rookie questions! I do so admire your work, and I appreciate your taking the time to correspond with me.

I find the JMAC is tackier. My hands and tools are always gummed up when I work with it. JMAC can also be crudely blended, with blobs of Vaseline like jelly, and small stones. I really like the Chavant. Very smooth and consistent. The finish is not oily, so the surfaces are less prone to impression when handling. I am using blocks of Chavant that are a couple years old and they are just fine...couldn't say the same for JMAC.  Good luck, there will be a learning curve but you will get it.

Thank you! That's a big help to me! Sounds like Chavant would be the best clay to use.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter weekend!!
