I was deep in the thick forest of the Safari Zone hills. We had passed into the restricted zone early that morning and now the sun hung high in the sky. The air was thick and smelt of damp lush jungle.

I was accompanied by my tracking companion Willow, a highly-skilled Poke-botanist.

She had worked in the Fuchsia Gym gardens for over six years now and was well versed in a variety of Grass Type Pokemon. When she offered to take me on a track and record mission in the Safari Zones restricted area, I couldn't resist.

As part of Fuchsia's conservation effort, many of the rarest Pokemon were fitted with trackers and would need to be regularly checked to make sure the animals were happy and healthy. Following the tracker Willow signaled to a clearing over the next ridge, we had finally found it.

Staying low, we looked over the embankment to see an Ivysaur breaking into a rotting log in search of grubs. Willow explained that this was 'Ruby' a female Ivysaur that was originally abandoned by her trainer when she was still a Bulbasaur. Ruby was smaller than average and was thought to possibly be the runt of her litter. Willow had taken her in and nursed her back to health. After a few months, she was slowly introduced to the Safari Zone Venusaur heard until she was accepted by the matriarch. She began to thrive and it wasn't long before her bulb bloomed and she evolved into an Ivysaur.
