Description Pastel and a small amount of colour pencil (used to make really minor adjustments to tones) on Art Spectrum Colour Fix paper. 70cm X 50cm (A2)

Comissioned Portrait of the Olivia who represents my work on the sunshine coast. I personally think its a good sign if you dealer buys stuff from you, at least you know they really do like it.

I'm quite pleased how minimal this is, I used the following list of colours.

1. Raw Umber
2. Burnt Sienna
3. Yellow Ochre
4. A really light tone of Raw Umber thats allmost a pink.
5. some sort of pink I had lying around.
6. some sort of blue I had lying around. (been though the desert on a pastel with no name...you know the ones)
7. black (for eyelashes)
8. White.
I used pencils of the same colours to bring tones up and down ever so slightly when I needed too.

SO yeah you don't need 500 colours to make it work IMO
Wheee..

Great that your dealer has commissioned..........gotta be a really good recommendation..........
I always think a limited palette keeps the work unified......anyway David, an amazing use of the media........

nice commission ... seems to fit well with your current drawings - a good controlled pallet will usually yeild a more uniform work, i feel

cheers,
and yeah I totally agree with you there, I'm allways tempted to go back to black and white, but never quite manage to bite the bullet..

You are very correct - one does not need an immense palatte to achieve quality. Very nicely done - I hope your rep is pleased.

Very beautiful! You've really captured this person's grace, and the sparkle in their eyes. I also really like that she is not your typical "17 year old model" beauty, she is a "real person" sort of beautiful.
