Description King, my most favorite imperial dragon on FR. I had a lot of fun with this I will say C:

I'm looking for critiques so I can improve so feel free to do that if you want C: Especially looking for crits on shading, making things blend together (ie the gems really stick out like a sore thumb to me instead of seamlessly blending in) and anything else. There isn't a lot going on but  I'm sure there are areas that can be improved

The gems might blend with the body more if you make them some-what transparent like actual gems. Unless you have rocks bonded to the dragon they wouldn't be a solid yellow. Most gems have some translucency to them so blending a tiny but of that beautiful violet into them will make a world of difference.

Wonderful picture and I love the way you made the flower petals look! King is truly an Imp to be respected!

that is very true! I kind of forget sometimes that gems and crystals can be a bit transparent. If I added a bit more lavender/violet coloring to it to make it look more transparent it might fit in a bit more.
thank you kindly n.n I was nervous about the flower petals but I'm glad you like them!

The only things I can say bother with me is that the gembond doesn't seem like it's a part of the dragon. The placement of the ones on the inside of the wing don't match where the feathers are (which could be why it looks off). The arms also seem too short in my opinion and the eye seems set a little too low. Other than that, this looks great! The colors are blended really well and I can get a feel for the form so it doesn't look flat.

thank you C:
Hm yeah the placement is a bit weird. I was just going by what his picture looked like but I think I referenced wrong xD I'll have to be a little more observant. I thought something was off about the eye but I wasn't 100%, glad someone else picked it up though. Imperial arms are short but it's possible I went a little tooo short xD
Aahh it makes me happy that you think it doesn't look flat. I had a big problem with that for awhile so its good to know I'm getting somewhere

thank you again~!

No problem I'm glad to see you're receptive to critiques rather than just shutting them out. I think the references are a bit in short supply sometime and it's hard to draw when you don't have a 3D model to look at. Sometimes another eye can pick them out. Another thing I find that helps is to flip the image so it's facing the opposite direction. I find that I spot mistakes easier that way.

yeah I don't mind them at all as long as the person isn't being rude. I want to improve so crits are the best way
oh gosh I totally forgot about the flip canvas trick. I need to write down little notes of this stuff so I remember xD

It's all good! Part of being an artist. I think critiques really help us to grow. It's definitely something I've learned a lot from at college so far. I'm always glad to help critique others when they want someone to.
