Also, to me this illustration has a lot to say--it could be before the battle took place, meaning that both of them are scouting so to speak the location and are anxious about the battle.Β if it took place after the battle, then both of them have suffered great losses recently: Elrond loses his friend Earendil as well as Isildur, the latter to the call of the Ring.Β Thranduil witnessed the slaying of his father and became King of Mirkwood as well as a good majority of his people.Β He has to return home and explain to Legolas that his grandfather is dead.Β
Another example of how a picture can mean a thousand different things to different people.Β

1) I'm a huge nerd here and this does all those nice things to my nerd brain parts.Β
2) Loving your whole technique here. There's attention to detail without being anal, and your black placement just looks so thick and bold. Your foliage is beautifully done. It looks so natural even stylized as it is. And then their hair falls like silk. I mean, that hair just looks amazing. I'm terribly sorry for this travesty of a comment, but it's hard to arrange this properly.Β
