Description So I came to next Temeraire series dragons category - the lightweights.

Only mention of Alamans in the books is the egg size and colouration, so I went to Uncle Google to learn something about the name origins. So Alaman is either a village in the northern part of Iran (not really Turkey) or a German tribe form about 3rd century (definitely nothing to do with Turkey)... I guess we can assume the breed has some kind of Persian origins, but that doesn't really help. So I ended up creating a dragon a bit like Kazilik, but with shorter tail (it makes "only" about 1/2 of it's body length) and less spiky. And ofc not a firebreather. The colours are inspired by the egg shell that was supposed to be yellow with brown spots if I remember correctly (Wiki is not working again).

Personally I feel this one is kind of regress comparing to the last two I made, but after all I'm glad I managed to produce ANYTHING with all the things going on here...

EDIT: KeizerHarm requested adding some anatomical details due to the dragon's pose, but u know... reptile genitalia are not really impressing when "inactive"... Anyway - added xD

Yup, that's a curse and a blessing at the same time - on one hand no one can tell u it should look otherwise, but if u can't find it in your head, u won't find it anywhere...

It's an amazing job, congratulations Β

Oh, thanks For some reason I wanted this one to be nice and kind-looking. Maybe because of the only scene that breed "appears" in books...

Heh, I feel some of mine definitely require re-drawing... But I think I should finish te ones that don't have their refs yet (that may take a few years more, given that I started the series in 2010 xD).

I think you've made a good job and the dragon looks really good; considering there were only very few informations about them available in the books or in the internet.

Thanks
I was trying to make it at least a bit original and not a "generic"one, so decided to make it mostly brown, because there isn't as many dragons of this colour as yellow/golden ones.

You're welcome and I guess that's the least you could do. Anyway the resulting dragon looks good and I'd say the colouring suits the dry and mountainous terrain of the area.

I like his playful pose But, given this perspective, one is compelled to wonder how this breed manages to create any eggs at all!

My mom called it a "lazy dog" because of the hind legs position.
As for the egg producing - reptiles have quite differently built genitals than mammals. When "inactive" they are hidden and only some small bumps and straight or v-shaped slit is visible outside. So in this position maybe a little line would be visible near the area where the dragon's rear meet the ground. I can add it if u really want xD

Well, given that I know you do possess the reptiles - I will take your word for it I shall also leave it to your judgement as to whether that's a good addition or not, though I wouldn't mind the anatomy myself

Yup, I used to keep some lizards - telling the girls from the boys was really painful... U know, all u see is this .
