This is John Wayne country.Filmmaker John Ford filmed 10 of his Westerns here with stars the likes of Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Maureen O'Hara, and of course, John Wayne.
Other films are 2001,Easy Rider, Thelma & Louise, Mission: Impossible II, and Forrest Gump all took advantage of this valley's vivid red color schemes.
